Flashlights

Cant say enough good things about the lenslight mini. I am by no mean a flashlight guru, had a few fenix lights and a few surfires but I have been edc'ing my mini for over three years. The great clip, the variable throw, and american built quality all make it a winner for me. Good luck in your quest.
Cheers,
Patrick

They are a neat light (with the variability in beam focus function) and made in the USA.

I have nothing negative to say about LensLight products. I did look at the mini and decided it wasn't right for me. I'm not the biggest fan of the output in terms of its appearance and it's levels. If I cannot have a rotary to dial the output it would be nice to have at least three levels.

I just bought the one that was on the exchange, figured it was a slightly more economical way to try one out..

If nothing else, it'll make a good compact light to throw in a bag perhaps..

Don't own one but have held them at the NYCKS/ECCKS stand they have set up.

The more I am/have carried the HDS the more I like it and when that happens - the chances that it will be "deThroned" grows slim.
Much like after I started EDCing an XM (and that was years ago) now.
When they find me as a pile of dust in the woods of the Great N/E someone will be heard saying, " Hey look at this cool knife laying in this pile of dust, Oh and I think there is a flashlight too, cool"

Something like that :)

I have played with them too.

As for the HDS, I understand your comments...but my experience is different. The more I carry them, the more I realize I'm still hunting the right light for me. A few changes to an HDS could easily prove a perfect light for me, but I'm not holding my breath.

I pick my gear (anymore) with a Zombie Apocolypse mentality. I ask myself, "Is this something I am going to grab and take with me? Is this something that I know (within reason) will not let me down?
I "used" to search for my ultimate widgets but when the search became frustrating and was no longer a fun part of the process I sat back and regrouped, figured out how to approach from a more "controlled outcome" perspective and came up with my Z.A. position on Gear.
No longer do I endlessly search, I sweep and figure out the "Best" there is offered and grab the stuff that satisfies the two(2) questions above.
Now I am living the Life of the Man discussed in the Lynyrd Skynyrd Song :)

Hmm, are you saying That you Smell funny? That A'int The One? Maybe you are Every Mother's Son? No, I got it, you are the Travellin' Man...still not it? How about you are On The Hunt but you Know (a) Little? Maybe you are Double Trouble and and Don't want us To Ask You Any Questions? Alright, I'll just Call you The Breeze then Mississippi Kid and Give You Back Your Bullets as you are Last Of A Dyin' Breed.

;)

Ah yes, the search for THE PERFECT xxxxxxx. Probably why I have about a couple dozen backpacks of various flavors, configurations, colors, etc populating the crawlspace of my house...

I was happy for a BF RHK Member that recently sent me a message and based on his readings (never before was much into Flashlights) pulled the trigger on an HDS as his First Flashlight.
I congratulated him on all the $$ and aggravation he saved and was spared and basically said, " You jumped right to the head of the class"
Nice when someone can benefit from the true purpose of this medium and get something of exceptional quality and not have to suffer the effects of trial and error.

^ Haha! Thanks again for the help with that Rubi. Should be here Friday. I can't wait to see the "Hinderer of Flashlights" in person. I am fortunate to have the guidance of several good people in this forum, and the knowledge gained from this thread. Im thinking that it saved hundreds of dollars by jumping right to a proven/highly recommended light. It allowed me to skip over the trial and error phase of buying gadgets and gear (which we all know gets expensive). I wish I had done that with knives! I would have saved myself thousands of dollars if I had known about Hinderers several years ago. Now I know better. I sold everything else or gave it away and carry only the best (Hinderers for those who were not paying attention). :)

You jumped in just in time J81, I just tried to score a rotary 200 today, and my source is out of stock till further notice.......I might just have to go the route of N2K and order direct from the man himself..... I really want the 200 in black with the flush button, I believe thats a custom setup...

200 rotary flush is a standard order. Black bezel Custom.

Check this one out. I have had one for 3 years now. I got the clicky cap for the back. It is rechargeable, works amazing. 280 true lumens. Charge lasts a very long time. I carry mine daily and use it every day as well. I work on cars and can more than vouch for its durability. I have dropped it kicked it threw it. its water proof as far as I can tell. They carry a lifetime warranty. Their customer service is amazing as well.

Thanks for the suggestion but I'm looking for everything in the smallest as practical package.

N2K have you looked into Mac's Customs? The tri-edc looks really impressive. I don't know too much about it other than it's rather floody and with those super lumens on high it'll melt your hand fast. I know there is a pretty big gap between medium and high, but nonetheless I was intrigued by it.

Stop copying me Jensen!

Lol, mine will - hopefully - be in my hands on Friday as well, NLT Sat. Even so, I till played with a Fenix PD22 at REI today and briefly considered buying it.

Instant gratification is my Achilles Heel...

Been e-mailing with him a bit but he doesn't answer every question.

And since the lights don't claim any real waterproof numbers or drop-resistance I'm on the fence but may still risk a couple bills to know.

Your concerns are similar to mine. I tried doing a little research, but didn't really get any lux numbers other than a few comments about them being lower as a result of the 3 emitters (I can't speak to the validity of this, but I suppose it makes sense given what little I know about optics). I also was worried about the drop durability and waterproofing. I have to say they are really really nice looking lights with very interesting features. Not sure if they fit the bill for me, but the aesthetics are undeniable.

I stopped buying things based on looks alone a long time ago. They are "water-resistant" so that means it cannot be the one light to trump all others. Plus, if it could be beat and keep on keeping on; I bet more people would be posting about them (like the HDS).
