Flashlights

Just called HDS today to confirm the status of my order placed last night, spoke with a real nice laid back kind of guy, ..... I asked the fellow his name, and he calmly said Henry in a mater of fact way.

Henry (HDS), Chris (Mac), Don (McGizmo), Dave (Cool Fall)...these are one-man shops typically, you shouldn't be too surprised. They answer the phone, take out the trash, do the dishes, design knives, ship, etc. and some are either retired or have regular day jobs. This is why they have had or do have backlogs and problems filling orders, answering the phone, responding to emails...

Don must have his sh!t together (inventory, managing suppliers, etc.) to be able to fulfill as many flashlight offerings as he has on a quick basis as I consider him the exception.

Dealing with delays is absolutely frustrating, but if the cost of artisan work is that sometimes delays happen, you can still count me in. I'd always prefer if people were upfront about time frames, but I also understand that it doesn't always work out that way. I think Rubi had it right on the last page when he pointed out that virtually every light that had been recently discussed was made in America, to the highest standards by shops ranging in size from fairly small businesses to one man operations. It's sort of like debating whether Rolex, Omega, Breitling, or Panerai makes the best watch. At a certain point it is a question of personal style and preference because they are all damned fine quality. I think it should be a certain matter of pride around here though that every suggestion, without exception, has been for something that is of the utmost quality- even if the specifics change a bit.

Ok guys next light to give a try...Mac Custom Tri EDC or a Prometheus Alpha with short-body conversion?

Or a McGizmo? If this, then which? Haiku?

I swear you and are twins or something..
Awoke this morning and while driving and sipping coffee...
Literally asked the Same question Same Exact menu.
Exact.

I ordered a Tri-EDC earlier this week, seems the wait is close to 6 moths or more, if that has any bearing on your decision.

That was the one I was leaning towards BUT, unlike most products I Buy - I find available information very scarce and as we have both experienced... emails yield little more.

Lately it's been this for me, can be programmed to memorize two output levels (including a turbo of 780 lumens).

I'm looking for little pocketable powerhouse lights that run on one cell (CR123 or similar).

I got this in last night. I love it! Great flashlight. I'm glad you guys talked me into this one. I just ordered a brass lanyard bead from rhk to match the clip. ;)

I've had a brass bead on one of mine for awhile now.

Older photo, seen before;

That looks great N2K. I love brass. I have the brass investigator also. I might have to pick your brain after my bead arrives on how to tie a good lanyard knot to go on my HDS.

Awesome pics guys! Love the sandy HDS - I never get tired of things painted OD or FDE/tan - just appeals to my comfort zone I guess :)

I think I need to find a good source for good but cheaper batteries..
