Flashlights

It is worth the wait wowcoop. To quote rubi it's the "hinderer of flashlights" not that I know a thing about them. All I know is its pretty, overbuilt, and makes it so its not dark anymore. Three pluses in my book. :)

Thx J81 It does truly look to be worthy, and the fact that both N2K and Rubi are carrying the HDS is good enough for me..... Even if N2k is still on a quest for the perfect light I know that his standards are high and only the best kit ever gets considered, I'm blown away by the specs on this light from the potted circuitry to the ACME threads, I'm sold its definitely a cool item, can't wait to get one in my hot hands!

and to Meluc, Copper has more character than most anything as it ages Nice score on both counts!

Very complimentary, thanks. And now all know why I'm still single.:D

HDS do for now and I have a few e-mails out to other makers. More on that later if anything shakes loose.

Nothing wrong with being picky (in knives, lights, guns, bourbon, women or anything that matters). I look forward to seeing what else pops up around here while I'm debating what I want and waiting for some free funds.

Hey Shane. Did you get your lenslight or HDS in the mail yet? How do you like them buddy?

Indeed I did :)

Funny story, well maybe not but here goes anyway.. So, the mailman rolls up yesterday and hands my wife two packages along with assorted other mail. Eyebrow goes up, "what's this huh?". At about the same time her sister pulls up (she and her two girls are living with us as she goes through a divorce, but that's a different story altogether) and states that she thinks she has an oil leak (actually she's completely out of oil, yet another story). So, I pop the hood to poke around, and need to look underneath her car - THE PERFECT OPPORTUNITY to tear open either/or/both just arrived packages (both of which came with batteries) and whip out a couple of awesome flashlights!! ;) Yep, got some eye rolls over that one, but she couldn't deny that they came in handy... hehe..

Anyway, it's clean-up-all-the-dead-stuff-in-the-yard-before-it-snows weekend, so my time for playing with knives, guns, and flashlights is kinda limited - getting the stinkeye at the moment in fact :) So, haven't had much time to put either light through any good ops check yet. I'll let you all know what I think when I get a chance to play with them more.. In the meantime, here's a quick pic:

Sweet. Nice pic there mister. Been doing yard work myself all day. I look forward to your review. Now get back to work!!!

Congrats! Stink eye aside..... thems some Nice Torches!!:)

Next time a package comes just look up and say, "OMG is that George Clooney!"

I love the Olight S20 baton. It's 550 lumens runs on 2 cr123s or one 18650. , but it's still pretty small. And it has a magnetized tail cap . Also love the Fenix PD35! But it's much bulkier

Thanks for contributing. But this thread is dedicated to the tiny as practical most feature-filled and productive lights running on no more than one CR123 or similar. I started this thread looking for the ultimate pocket-friendly light and to my knowledge, what I truly seek still does not exist.

I think what you seek does exist, but no more than one knife is perfect for everybody, there is no flashlight that is perfect in every situation. Even among the 123 size there are different kinds of beams, different materials, some excel in low-low, some in brightness or throw, copper ones dissipate heat better but aluminum ones weigh less while titanium ones are quite durable but have occasional thread issues etc. There are many great lights recommended and some of them are even smaller than the form you seek, an almost perfect pocket light is the LF2XT, the Quantum D2 is really small and quite bright, so many options. It seems to me you are saying there aren't any options but I contend there are many many out there.

There's lots of options but nothing I've given an honest go or researched is "the light". I may in fact be in want of a technology yet to be realized. But I do appreciate every contribution in the thread.

the "On-Deck" circle. Either not in pocket, a go-bag or weapon mounted .....patiently waiting a turn :)

Very nice! Thesaurus Dictionary could use that picture for the meaning of redundancy. If you were to turn them all on at once pointed at 90 degrees I'm sure if I look south from my location a beacon would appear!

There is no more one light that is perfect than there is one car that is perfect. Life is a series of compromises.
I guess I agree with you in one sense, but it's nice trying lots of them.
I Love the HDS clicky.
I adore the Mac's Customs Tri-EDC in copper and in titanium.
LF2XT is a seriously nice light, several of them and all are a bit different.
SPY-007 is an amazing light.
Prometheus gives off an awesome beam with the quad emitter MC-E.
MBI are very small and quite surprisingly bright.
Many are programmable and highly customize-able.
Check out my flashlight pictures:

Please do share once you check them out! The more I've researched and considered my needs and wants, I think the rotary and the lens-light mini are probably my top two choices and would really like to hear about them head to head.

Looks like both Rubi and Franz know what I'm going through in this hunt. You can shell out untold amounts of time and monies and still not have "the light".

After reading all these informative posts and seeing pictures, I "want". I do have an array of lights, but always in search of the best, like Hinderer Knives. I will let N2K zero in on the torch that has the most of everything, that will be my grail. Rubi or Franz may have already posted that particular one.

My knowledge embarrassing as it may be is Neanderthal at best, 30 years with hollow tube filled with D batteries.
