Flashlights

Well, I have looked them all up and based on the tail clicky/variable output as well as size, price, reviews, I am leaning towards the sunwayman v11r. Anyone care to share their experience with this light? I understand that there is seemingly an unlimited selection in this category so I appreciate your thoughts and experiences!

IMO in the category of lights and light manufacturers (mass production) the Sunwayman products are on the high end quality wise.
It has a rotary too. Much like N2K's comment about the Olight, I kicked around the idea of getting the v11r and was about to when my HDS rotary showed up.
My buddy Bill has the v11r and loves it.

Awesome. Thanks for your help all! I think that I made a decision. Now I need to decide if I really NEED the extra output of the rcr123/16340s.

Need? Probably not, it is a gee-whizz factor for sure. Opinions vary here and everywhere as to what is an acceptable output.
I find most of my light needs are within the rotary capabilities of my 0.5-200 lumen range and I do use the entire spectrum - daily.

When "Need" presents itself - I grab a bigger light :)

Agreed Rubi! I already have a couple cr123's and ordered an 8 pack of duracells along with the new light. I could always get the rechargeables if later. Thanks again all for your input. Just between us, I am sure one day I will be getting that HDS that everyone loves so much. Just wanted to get my feet wet and see if I will actually carry this light every day before I spend that much. With an 8 pack of batterys and shipping, I am only into this light for under $90.00.

One of my flashlights puts out 180 lumens(so called) But that thing is pretty damn bright to me!! It's like a mini search light.

Cool man! Which one did you decide on?

I got the Sunwayman V11R. I am intrigued by the variable output beam, I think that will come in pretty handy for it's intended uses.

Down the road if it'll help. Shoot me a PM and I will send you some links for batteries etc. Congrats and welcome to the "next addiction"

Love my V11R, definitely grab the RCR's down the road, it's awesome to not have to buy new 123 all the time.

I'll probably end up getting rechargeables in the future. I don't intend on making this another "hobby"... Unfortunately things don't always end up as I intend them too. We'll see.

I use rechargeables in my V11R, the extra juice translates into more noticeable lumens. The big reason I prefer a RCR is I can throw a fresh rechargeable battery in fresh from the charger and know its condition. Using a CR123, it is always in varying states of voltage, sort of like carrying a pistol and the mag isn't quite full. That being said you will find regular CR123's will last longer and just don't quit like rechargeables when they reach the end of their usefulness. In any event I do carry extra batteries of both flavors.
Also I think you will enjoy the V11R for that price point, as far as not making this another hobby, good luck with that! :)

Hi guys I know that this thread is more for max output off of a single battery BUT im going to ask this question anyway. I consider you guys the experts and I have very limited knowledge other than what I've read in this thread. I currently have an HDS clicky 170. I love the light and have been EDCing it since i got a few months ago. I am finding it is a little big for my edc purposes. At night it will be my go to for sure but I want something slimmer in profile for daytime use. I am definetely willing to sacrifice output for a smaller package. I have been eyeballing the lenslight micro. Are there any other lights I should be considering in this category? Oh and it has to but tough enough to live in a construction zone and have a pocket clip . :) Thank you in advance for any advice that you can give me. -Jensen

Jensen, I have actually handled the foursevens quark mini 123. It is a very tiny light. Might be worth checking out, I have heard ok things. At $32.00, you can't go wrong.

Flashlights fall in that category, " what is the best Hinderer blade for EDC ?" If we knew what we were cutting the answer would be easy, so a compromise if you will is what gets pocket time. Same paradigm goes for other tools. I also have the HDS clicky which I also find a bit big for pocket carry, however it has become my outdoor coat torch. The compromise for me has been the V11R, not the build quality of HDS, but good quality flood light (excellent for illuminating things right in front of you). Also with the taillight switch comes positive on off and the rotary gives the proper amount of light for a given task. Lumens with CR123 are 190' with RCR 500 ( according to manufacture)
A better build torch that I also pocket carry but length is 4 inches as opposed to 3 1/4 for V11R is the Nitecore Infilux IFE2, Lumens run about the same according to type of batteries on board. However the deep smooth reflector is more of a thrower, as opposed to the more shallow orange peel reflector of the V11R that gives off a wider smoother light.

Here are. Pictures of both, that being said I still anxiously await the HDS 200 rotary, which will probably be an outdoors coat pocket torch. Good luck with your acquisition and PLEASE WATCH OUT FOR THAT SLIPPERY SLOPE, easy to slide into! :)

Thank you guys! I will hit up some YouTube videos and research them online. I appreciate your help.

I like the rotary dial far more on the Sun V10/V11s than on the NC IFE-1s.

As for the HDS, one of my biggest gripes is the hefty feel brought on by it's weight. Several lights out there are similar in size, but the HDS always "feels bigger".

Funny thing is, if it's weight is thought to make it more robust; it must be rembereded that force is a formula in which mass is key...lighter objects impact with less force (at equal velocity) than heavier objects...just sayin'.

My wife always talks about how she'd get hurt by her seat belt in a car accident because she is so small (115lbs) and I explain the physics every time....

You are obviously both a patient and persistent Man. I learned many years ago to not waste my time explaining "Facts" to a Woman once she has made her mind up about that which she does not understand nor wants to understand.

I even watch her eyes glaze over as I talk about velocity and momentum yet I still try...

As for flashlights, I want to get something in titanium at some point. Aluminum is nice but it galls to easy and steel is too heavy. A titanium 2xCR123 light with 500lm or so with a rotary interface....
