Flashlights

UT34...can we get some beam shots? I'm very curious about the pattern from the Tri-EDC at reasonable distance in both medium and high outputs.

ETA...found a few images on the Web and esp. CPF....but I'm still hoping for better images if you (or anyone) can snap a few.

So, I picked up my last flashlight for 2013. My 2014 resolution is to buy no more flashlights.:D
Newest addition is Prometheus Alpha w/ custom sand blasting. This thing is way to big even with the short body. It will be my bag light. These are all Ti or at least Ti bodies.

@meluck aka Luck...I almost bought one of the little Ti 47s 123 twistys... But in the end, I passed as I already have 3 of the black ones.

I got that at Blade 2011. It was a favorite for a long time but the emitter is out of date and not really a fan of twisty myself. I've realized that the clicky is preferred for me.

Will do at some point, let me know if you have specific criteria...

Don't want to be too specific, leaving it open to your ability and opportunity. Outside, dark as possible control, and graduated field or objects at known distances.

Would like to see the "flood" of the beam at mid and high....up to 100 meters and if "cat-sized" objects placed at 30-50-100 meters are easily identifiable and to what detail.

Btw---is it the cool or warm version?

There has been an incredible amount of information shared on this thread started 29 pages ago by Need2Know. I carried a flashlight everyday for 35 years of LE, most of it was crap compared to today's offerings. Old habits are hard to die so a flashlight, knife, pen and gun are still items on my person daily. I still dabble in LE intel, family farm, contracting of sorts all of which said items are mandatory. I still do not understand how ill prepared the majority of people are, if the lights go off, bedlam ensues, to most of us here, it's more of a "oh well" situation.

I'm in the same situation as you Luck, I've mined the hell out of flashlight information and purchases. The end conclusion is I presently carry my Sunwayman V11R with RCR123's because it meets my needs. Pop a fresh rechargeable battery in every other day and carry a spare CR 123. I like the tail light on off switch and the magnetic lumen control ring. Not of the Hinderer quality that we are accustomed to, but my HDS 200 Rotary may someday arrive and displace my current go to torch.

Purchases have subsided with a dog pile of reasonably priced torches. Like someone said "it's not the destination, it's the journey"

Kjuice about 3 months ago. I spoke with Henry (owner) beginning of Dec, he said I would have it by the end of Dec. Not.

Yeah, that's what I have been reading on the CPF. Seems like some people have been waiting since May/June. I put mine order in the beginning of Dec.

@FO Yes, the search or "journey" is part of the fun for me. I actually have 4 HDS lights: Rotary 200, Exec. 200, Hi Cri 120, and Hi Cri 140(on it's way actually). Although I like Henry's lights, they are not the "grail" to me. I carry the Haiku Hi Cri daily and it's currently the "most" perfect light for me, although still not perfect.

For rotary, HDS is the best for sure. The rotary is nice and stiff but not to stiff. My v11r and 1 of my v10r have gotten a little looser with time. I have a v10r and RRT-01 that are customs and have the rotary ring stiffened up, and they are almost as good as HDS rotary but not quite. The RRT-01 is stupid bright and will burn your hand in about a minute. I exclusively use RCR123's, mainly cause they maximize performance, but also cause I would spend more in batteries than I do in lights themselves.

I have only two light purchases planned for 2014 atm.

A flush-button Rotary 200 from HDS for around the house / gym/lounge clothing where raised button sometimes catches on the pocket material making deployment (sometimes) clumsy.

And, if it proves worthy of a go...a Mac Tri-EDC.

My biggest issues with HDS are the weight and that for me...they are often not bright enough. This is evidenced by me most often running on highest settings so the annoying low-battery flashes are far too common. Can those flashes be disabled? Anyone know?

I want a Mac so bad, but...I'm guessing you know.

I'll add another neg. to the weight and brightness, the new ones are too slick and the knurling is useless.

I'd just place my order and wait....very likely gonna do it myself soon.

I'm not getting any word back on the FDE finishing request; so I'll probably just get in as inexpensively as possible to see if I like the light. Later, I can add to the cost with materials and options if I'm impressed enough to buy more.

Too funny, I just got a V11R, and with a standard cr123, I think my HDS120 HCRI throws more light with a better visual picture, i.e. I'm addicted to the HCRI... was wondering what RCR123's you are using and if they make a big difference in brightness on the V11r, also have you tried them in your HDS?....and have you tried them in your MARATAC? I've read some people are using RCR's in the MARATAC, but I'm fairly sure thats not recommended.....still waiting on my MARATAC, and dreaming on my HDS, I can only imagine what 200 lumen in a rotary is like compared to my 120HCRI, honestly that thing is amazing, I can't believe the claims on Jetbeam and Sunway........ either Henry is an overachiever or........well you know..
