Flashlights

I'm currently waiting on 4 lights to come in the mail. 2 are for my son so nothing special because they will be lost or destroyed but the other 2 will become my EDC's.

V10R Ti+ is 3.3 inches long, has an infinite variable output ring, a 500 lumens turbo mode using RCR123A/16340, and a nice floody XM-L U2 LED giving a wall of light with an effective range of 130 meters. The button binds as a result of poor tolerances but they are issuing a fix and others have already come up with their own. I have also had the AA extender turned down and bored to allow 17500 Li-Ions for extended run times.

DEFT-edc LR+ is 5.3 inches long, runs 18650 Li-Ions, aspheric lens, 72000 lux @1 meter (mine was adjusted and is somewhere in the range of 76Kcd & 80Kcd) with an approx effective range of 600 meters. For comparison Klarus XT11 8800 Lux@1m & Fenix PD32 5000 Lux@1m. That extra 0 on the LR+'s lux is not a typo which is why this is the ultimate pocket thrower!

First, thank you for the info.

Man, you just sent me on a wild goose chase, those appear to be rare as hen's balls on the open market.
I always look to buy direct or from reputable retailers, I cannot find that DFT-edc LR+ anywhere. Oh well, something else to research.
I also have been looking at HID and Laser Genetics green emitters. I guess I am more of a basic LED light kind of guy, but knowing about all these things does not hurt.

I always carry a MiniX 123. It is capable for most jobs. And it is easy to put it between the teeth so the hands are free :D
It runs long and it has a wide spread beam.

I like my surefire lx2 lumamax. Surefire says it puts out 200 lumens, plenty for me. 15 on low beam. Battery life is fairly good about 2.5 hours on high and quiet awhile on low. Its compact and looks cool. Yea surefires are on the expensive side but worth it to me.

I own 3 of these. Great to take along when cannot pocket a larger light. Also, they fly. Pass right thru TSA here in the USA on a keychain without even a hiccup. Looks like a little 10 lumen light, but throws out room-filling 200ish. If 4 7s could put a clicky on one and keep it close to it's current size, that would be very interesting. Now imagine a tiny rotary control ring and a clicky.

In my youth, it was Surefire and nothing else. The products changed and so did my disposition. Then, the Industry grew, technology advanced and here I am seeking the tiniest, most reliable and rugged, end all (to date) light available. There are a lot of threads and even forums dedicated just to lights. I have a lot of homework left to do. And perhaps what I am seeking is more of a ongoing hunt than a question with only one answer. Because what I really want may not exist yet. Just a thought.
Ordered LumaPower IncenDio V3U and SUNWAYMAN-V11R. Still hunting.

I really like the Nitecore IEF1 for EDC, very bright, and robust. Perfect size for carry. Lots of "bang for the buck" IMO.

V11R has the same button issues as the V10R Ti+. They are sending out replacement button kits but there are also delrin button replacements, delrin retaining ring replacements and my favorite a tritium imbedded button with electronic switch. You could also polish the effected area with a dremel but that doesn't resolve it 100% or replace the button with a 14mm rubber button cover like this one. http://www.lighthound.com/Fenix-Tailcap-Rubber-Switch-Cover-Orange-Tactical_p_2462.html

Have one in my pocket right now. Only gripes--eats batteries surprisingly quickly (one thing I will tollerate if all other wants are met) and I'd like to see it in a little smaller size.

Great (sarcasm), Thanks for the link.

If mine has an issue, I would rather boot-swap than return. I toss a light and extra battery into most every bag, tool box, glovebox, you get the idea. I own many.

Yes, on a Wish List Absolutely but real world you then involve FFL and depending on how far involved -actually become a Licensed Firearms Manufacturer. Big step.
For an operation making knives, pens etc a light would be a great fit.

Oh I know. I didn't mean to include the gun. Just make the case big enough for end user to cut the foam for a gun.

I've done reviews on several lights from many manufacturers, and 4Sevens seems to have the best offerings for what I look for. Here's a photo which shows my typical weekend summer EDC:

That's a 4Sevens Quark X123 in the photo. Great, great light. During the week when I'm in the office, I'll typically carry a 4Sevens Preon 1 or Olight i3. The 4Sevens Maelstrom X10 is, in my opinion, about the best tactical light out there and stays on my bedside table. I have a second in my bag for when we do low-light drills in my Tuesday night league.

I like the 4 7s stuff. Got the chance to speak with them at their booth last year at Blade. I believe they operate out of the Atlanta area, so if I see them this year I may just describe what I am seeking and see what they say.
Still hunting...

Did you ever check out the Eagletac d25s?
They now have twisty and clicky and ti versions.

Also like this iTP EOS A2 SS stainlesssteel flashlight. Good lights really can be compared with roses!
