Flea market finds

So walking around a neat little spot I go to I find this hammer brand Barlow I dated it between 1945 to 1955

I picked up this crew today from a flea market knife dealer. Not giveaway prices but fair, I paid $100 for the lot. All have good walk/talk/snap, some need more cleanup than others. Included are a Case 6235-1/2 from 1940-1964, a Case 11031SH from 1965-1969 (my favorite, walk/talk/snap feels like a GEC), a like new Bayes Barlow, a super nice Schrade Walden 808 and a Pal Cutlery stockman/cattleman. This one I love too, great snap and all blades have half stops. I'm going to enjoy cleaning that one, it is a keeper for sure.

This was my haul last summer, all from the same guy thats there every day all summer. I didnt buy all at once but over a few different trips. None were over 25 bucks
Not in the pic is a western fin type with a stacked leather handle.
Edit: the opinel #8 was original, i shaped and tried to jig the handle and stained

I went to the "antique mall" this weekend and came home with:

Imperial "Platinum Edge" Never seen one of these before. Not sure how old, but the foam in the plastic box was all dust. So someone never used it, kept it with its original packaging, yet decided to vibro-engrave on the blade?

Another old Boker with a missing shield! Needs a little clean-up, but in nice shape.

I also bought this drafting set. Not like I need another of these, but it looked different with the brass parts, and the lady swore it belonged to an engineer who worked on the Hoover Dam.........

Pretty nice haul R8shell : I have never seen a brass Drafting Set before . Who was the manufacturer ? I have no idea how old the set is , but we stopped using the Ink attachment back 1962 .

Nice finds r8shell, love the Imperial, and it looks like you might have another scrimshaw project with that Boker ;)

Great finds indeed, R8shell! I have never seen a Platinum and i like it. I love the drafting set ...takes me back to Engineering Design Graphics classes:D I don't know what the bottom piece in the kit is?

Love that Imperial R8shell

Thanks. It's hard to photograph, but it does look like the steel has a chrome or platinum plating. Though so I doubt it was a high dollar line with clipped bolsters/ shell construction.

Could be!
The hole is drilled through the liner, so I think the shield was originally pinned. Does anyone know when Boker started gluing their shields?

Harry, there's no manufacturer's mark I can see on the tools, and I don't know if "A.N.C." inside the box lid is the maker or the owner's monogram. Do you kniow what the tool at the very bottom in the picture is? The little rings slide, tightening the ends of the tube, and I thought it could be a holder for drawing with vine charcoal, but I didn't think engineers did that kind of drawing.

R8shell I have carried the platinum Edge Imperial for 30 years they're from the late 50s-60s and a great little knife with a long blade I love mine and am jealous of yours NIB.

Mine was $1 at a flea market and I'd never sell it, good luck and enjoy it, since you'll probably never carry it, I wouldn't, if you want to borrow mine I'll let you use it for awhile. ;)

Really though look for one on the Bay, they're made in several flavors under a few different monikers but they're identical in frame and blade configuration. It's a tough cute little knife, congrats.

Hey r8shell, would you send me a scan of the literature on a pdf file or even a printer scan jpeg of the Platinum Edge Imperial for mine?

I have never seen anything like that , but will the Ink or Lead attachments fit into the ends so that it can be used like a Pencil ????? I also have never seen any set with a pair of tongs in it either.

That Imperial platinum edge is COOL!

Super finds, Rachel!:thumbup: Having a brass drafting set from someone who worked on the Hoover Dam is sure nothing to sneeze at!

Boker looks to be fantastic! You sure come up with a lot of nice Bokers down there in your neck of the woods!

How big is that Imperial? The pen blade looks unusually long! I have a beat-up version of a "Diamond Edge" Imperial (missing the plastic covers) that looks a lot like that, but I'm sure a platinum edge is WAY better; it affords virtually frictionless cutting, which is the lofty goal I want to achieve someday!:D

Monthly flea market happened last weekend. Here is what I came back with. Went on a fishing theme that day because they just kept popping up for so cheap. Spent $17 on the 3 piece kit (from different vendors). I'm big into fishing, so I got a real kick out of finding these pieces.

Imperial Fish knife, clamshell construction. Not really a fan of clamshell knives, but it spoke to me, and was in great shape.
My Buddy brand tackle box with nice blue paint on outside and inside. Some wear, but lots of paint still left.
Langly brand De-Liar mini fish scale and tape measure. Cool little gadget for near negligible price of $2. Had to have it. Green paint has wear on the back, but functions perfectly. Have not checked accuracy of the scale yet, but I need to.

Not sure why, but I love these old military "demo" knives. Found this older Kingston with brass liners yesterday. Still fully functional and ready for service after a cleaning and sharpening.
