Flipping from the exchange

Well since I’m sure not many or no one else will I’ll step forward, I will. Yep, I flip. I buy and sell. Isn’t against the rules. I don’t flip every knife, and many I relist for what I paid simply because I want to try the knife out and it’s a model I haven’t seen and so forth. According to my feedback many members are more then happy to buy from me and totally happy with the service I give. I figure if people don’t like what I do then they can put me on ignore and we each go about our lives. I’m not going to be drawn into name calling and all that ridiculous stuff over buying and selling knives. Not everyone agrees with everything that goes on in the world. That’s life.
I don't think anyone is complaining about those buying knives to try out, then deciding it's not for them. Most of us do that? It's people buying knives they *know* they don't want just to flip for profit. At large margins, 2-4x. And thanks for the deal on the Pemberton, I really enjoy it!

Hey man your welcome, glad your happy. Yea I see a lot of people selling just released knives for crazy profit. GEC 36 and Hinderer Project X come to mind recently. I don’t do that. Hey, it’s their deal and if they want to then that’s up to those who are buying and selling them. If they are happy then what harms done

Well since I’m sure not many or no one else will I’ll step forward, I will. Yep, I flip. I buy and sell. Isn’t against the rules. I usually don’t flip here for profit, I use other sources. Ones I relist here are a lot of time for what I paid plus shipping, like the 2 I have listed now. I’m betting a shitload of people just did exactly that. “That’s life” to you, but I call a douche a douche. Bye.

Actually you are exactly who came to mind when I started reading this thread

Buying knives for good deals on bladeforums and flipping them on ebay. I'd use some other words, but I'm on a streak for no infractions.

Bare minimum pony up for a dealer membership.

Agreed.

I can’t stand flippers on here and generally try to avoid them. I still like to think a guy can get a good deal on here from time to time and try to support that thinking in my sales. I go through knives. I buy them and most don’t fit what I want to keep so I almost always sell them at a loss. I have started blocking people that buy my knives for cheap and flip them for a profit. I can’t stop them from doing it but I can stop dealing with them all together.

About ten years ago I was selling off my forty-year collection of Case folders, I had near eight hundred NIB knives. I had a potential buyer that wanted to see my red bones. When he arrived, he was trying to get me to sell all the red bones cheap. My radar tagged him as a flipper. I ended up selling him one at current value.
I ended up listing them on ebay one at a time.

Yep no problem doing that if needed. If a mod feels that’s what I need to do then so be it

I figured I’d get roasted and people ignore me but those aren’t people I want to deal with anyways so be it. I won’t get pulled into the childish name calling and the sort. That’s silly.

It pisses me off, it hurts this community in more than 1 way. Guys who really want a certain knife to use (or collect I suppose, but in my case use) can't get knives at decent prices because of flippers.

The other way it hurts the community is it burns people, guys with larger collections specifically. I searched for an mg ad15 on here, found a guy who had a few and we messaged back and forth, he showed me the ebay listing of the knife he just sold to someone else who reached out to him, they listed it at 2000.00. He sold it to him at no where near that cost. So he didn't want to risk selling another one and it being flipped.

I understand his reservations, I wish he dug into my posts here, he would have known I am not a flipper.

It's been happening for years here and many people are rightfully pissed. This is a hobby for most of us, and people treating the exchange like a place for them to get hot knives at cheap prices to flip for a profit SUCK.

Well you have an opinion. Not everyone shares it. Not going to argue right or wrong. It’s just a different viewpoint

Many people knew you were a flipper anyway, but thanks I guess for telling everyone who didn't already know.

Your view point is profit. My viewpoint is my hobby and the community here. I guess we won't see eye to eye on this.

No we don’t and that’s fine.

I wish all flippers would come here and proclaim that they are flippers. Yet, most hide. That tells me that somewhere in the back of their minds, they know they what they are doing is at least distasteful and not what the majority here would find appealing. And yet, they can't seem to overcome the "need" to make more money. Sad...and pathetic.
