Folder question

Not to schill, but I'm surprised I don't hear more talk about Black Bears Knives and Mike's folders. These are custom, first rate folders that start at $240. I snagged his Metro Razor and I couldn't be happier.

Oh yeah, there are some really sweet Customs out there. :D

What makes the Hinderer better than the C-Reeves knives as far as quality? Or is this just a fad.

Some people describe the Hinderer as a perfect blend of the Sebenza and a Strider.

I do not have one yet, but I will be hunting one down soon. I got to play with one at Blade last year, and they are pretty impressive.

I've not handled one at all so I was just wondering why all the hype. I guess thats why.

Dang you guys are fast on the keyboard. I'm still trying to figure this think out. Does dinosaur ring a bell. :D :D

For one they are hard to get so the ones who own them really brag them up a lot. ;)

They are nice blades though.

Because it lives up to all the hype. Rick designed it with hard use in mind, especially hard use by first responders. My main thing with them is that they are extremely well built, and dang close to perfect, ergonomically speaking...as a personal opinion, of course. :) I wish that I had saved the pix that were on his site...the ones that showed the XM-18 with a truck parked on it, and then the same knife continuing to function flawlessly afterwards.

Oh, wait... some are still there. I believe these are of him testing the strength of a Gen I, which didn't even have a full titanium liner under the G-10 side, like the Gen II & III XM-18's have. I don't see any with it working after, but there is one image missing. That one must've been the after pic.

It did'nt wreck that knife at all. Does he use titanium in his knives or maybe just a special heat treat. You know for the handles not to cave in on the knife handle.

Yep, titanium, and g-10.

Some have carbon fiber instead of g-10.

They are just well built, you can do the exact same thing to a Strider and the results will be the same. ;)
