Folders - What's in your pocket?

Didn't know they were still using the Beechcraft Mentor.

I don't know why I assumed you were rotor. I know the Marines fly both fixed and fling wing. A buddy of mine was in Marine A-4's when they were still in operation.

Guess you're hoping for the F/A-18 eventually?

Yea we're switching to the T-6 but Pensacola is getting them before we do in Texas. Somethin like 80% of Marine aviation is rotary...

And yea I'm putting Jets and C130s at the top of my wish list. We'll see how it goes.

Don't know why I was thinking helo's, too, when I saw the PCL. No pilots/aviators (except maybe the Russians) "BAILOUT" of helos, that I've ever known. It's either auto-rote in, or you're pretty much done.

For some reason I was thinking USAF, because they always use the term "BAILOUT!" instead of "EJECT!", but I think their -1's use the term eject to talk about it.

Good luck with jets. I'm wondering if the USMC will ever start flying Growlers like they did Prowlers for a while. 'Course they WILL be getting F-35B's, and if you're in Primary now, you could very-well end up having a chance to jump into the F-35! :D

Oops, meant to add.... the last Corps aviator that I knew that had anything to do with knives more than what was stashed in his survival gear was a buddy of mine that transitioned from Cobras to Hornets. He carried a Benchmade AFO clipped to his boot. :D

Spyderco is nearly 99% of the folders I carry. I am really looking forward to trying out the HEST Folder and the IZUA/f if it comes out!

Here are a few of my EDC rotation:

Spyderco Bug, have 1 on my key chain

Sage I Carbon Fiber....I consider one of my perfect EDC knives

Custom Delica 4 with Cocobolo handle

Spyderco Caly 3 Carbon Fiber ZDP-189....another perfect EDC blade for me

My Spyderco Collection...not all folders but I have a few to choose in my rotation. It's a sickness

The Marine Corps might get the growler when the Navy switches to the next platform, definitely not until then. Our prowlers now are getting old as hell, but the Navy is giving us their old ones which have some upgraded avionics packages. So we'll fly those until they can't fly no more haha. When I was in Pensacola last year they were making a big deal about standing up the first F-35 squadron over at Eglin Airforce Base. They have the people, just not the planes.

Funny you should mention this. I just went through my survival gear today to see what kinda goodies they gave me. The knife is a gerber auto. My buddy got a Benchmade auto.

And to see what I keep in my shroud cutter pocket, you can scroll to the end of this one. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=555327&page=16

Oh and carrying a Buck Syrus (think thats what its called) today, just to change it up.

I added a zip tie to the opening hole (and a little strip of duct tape to prevent it from sliging around) and use it as a bootleg wave feature. It works very well if you like that kind of stuff.

Currently, I rotate between a Spyderco Persistence, FFG Delica, or a Kershaw Skyline. An Izula is also carried in my front left pocket. I should be adding a Buck Vantage Pro, FFG Endura and hopefully a Spydie Sage CF.

Spyderco Sage

The Sage1 is my folder of choice 99% of the time and probably my favorite knife of all time (so far :D). The Izula neck carried is a worthy back up and hard use blade that gets carried just as often.

I usually tote around an Izula and a folder. Rockin' my new Spyderco Military at the moment. Also I sometimes carry a Manix 2, Kershaw Junkyard dogII or a Kershaw Leek. I pretty much stick with Kershaw or Spyderco for my folding knife needs.

I'm kind of all over with my collection but lately it has been the Delica FFG or the Sage I.

The T-6 is a licensed built Pilatus, right? I saw one at KPUB refueling once. I also saw a BAE Hawk there being operated by the U.S. Thought only the Brits used them. C-130's are great airplanes too.

Are you issued a Sig P228 (M11) still? What fixed blade if any?

T-6 is the Texan 2 made by Beechcraft. The T-45 is a McDonnel Douglas version of the Goshawk by BAE. If all goes as planned I'll be headed to Kingsville Texas to fly those some day. As for the weapons, Marines still get M9s (Beretta 92). However I'm in a training command so unless I went down in a bad neighborhood of Corpus Christi I'd have little use for a firearm and they are not issued. The Navy has been issuing Sigs. In the training wing right now we get auto folders in our issue plus a shroud cutter, mines a Gerber but others have gotten Benchmades. When I get to the fleet I'll have a little leeway in the knife I carry, I can get my own but I think we might still be issued the Ontario pilots knife.

I believe that's called "Ghetto Wave" (at least that's how I know it). Yes, it works all right :D .
