Folders - What's in your pocket?

been carrying a spyperco tenacious the past month or so , waiting on the hest folder then the izula folder

Lately Ive been carrying a spyderco endura4 ffg grey with a sak cadet, its a really good combo with a larger blade and a smaller blade and tools. I have a swiss classic on my keys and Im working on getting a rambler fro the bottle opener and Phillips head. Besides that, I'll carry a buck 110 on my belt and a sak hiker in my pocket, another favorite combo of mine.

Today's loadout

Today I actually carried two folders just for the hell of it. A BM mini Bone Collector and an Al Mar mini SERE 2000.

So many posts...so few pictures................can't believe a word of it....

My little Case lock-back.

I've been packing a Spyderco Tenacious for quite awhile but the fact that it's an import bothers the hell out of me.

Been looking for a decent, budget, american made folder for the past few weeks. I don't really carry folders much, mostly at work so paying $100+ for one really makes no sense to me.

I did Spyderco for alot of years, USA Native then a Manix, Para, Endura G-10. Then I jumped up to Zero Tolerance, first a 0200 then a 0300 then I Went all out and got a full blown Strider. All the expensive knives were nice but I found myself babying them and thats just not what their for to me.

So I sold and traded all of them off, traded into a Tenacious and beat the snot out of it for the past 6 months. Recent threads got me thinking about how I used to be such a stickler for US made goods and how I've strayed away from that.

So I started looking for a US made folder that would suit my needs. Spyderco and Benchmade are awesome of course but the stuff I like is a bit out of my price range, same with ZT. Kershaw doesn't really make anything that does it for me.

After alot of online research I decided in trying out the Buck Vantage series of knives. S30V steel, G-10 and a Bos heat treat on the pro model for around $50. That's an insane value as far as I'm concerned. I'll get the cheaper version with zytel and 440 for a work beater.

I've seen some quality complaints about blade centering and lock engagement but I don't care about blade centering (as long as it doesn't rub a liner) and Buck has a great warranty if the lock is off.

I'll see when I get them and report back with my findings.

shotty, the QC issues were when the vantage was initially released, but now they are fine. should be a great EDC folder

Excellent choice JTR! Today's my special day where I go out and eat a cake with candles on it. I've been spending the past few days experimenting with the Edge pro Apex system and I'm impressed. I'm speechless for how beautiful it is, but I sure haven't forgotten how much sharper it is to conventional "Shaving"!

I bought a BM 755 (from the exchange) and its a diesel blade. I have read reviews comparing it to a ''tank", and rightfully so. The M390 steel blade (60-62HRC) is short of 3" long (@ .164" thick) & 7 " overall. Easily sharpened on a diamond rod and a Sharpmaker (black) rod. Very smooth opening, can be opened with a flip of the wrist or using thumb studs. The only problem for me I can't change the clip position. BTW, its made in the USA. (No camera, have to borrow pics :D)

i got a para 2 in the pocket today. Nothing wrong with it that i can see

I have a few that I rotate in and out. My favorite folder for about the last five or six years has been the Al Mar SERE 2000. I love that knife.

I just don't think I will rest until I obtain another plain-Jane, Classic Large Sebenza. I had one a few years back and had to sell it during hard times and I have missed it badly ever since. As much as I loved my 1998 Emerson Commanders that I once had and my current AMK SERE2K, I will always miss that Sebenza the most.

I am currently EDC'ing a Vantage Pro, and it is a great knife. The position of the clip attaching into the top of the handle means that it just disappears into your pocket, and it's not heavy at all. I sometimes forget it's even there.

I picked it up from BassProshops, and it was shaving sharp right out of the box. I've used it for food prep, general utility chores, and some outdoors stuff like whittling marshmallow sticks, fuzz sticks, etc.(the important stuff for the kids )

Especially for the price and the quality of this knife, I don't think you can find a better deal for an EDC/ beater.

Oh, and to keep on topic, today, like most days, I'm carrying a green alox Vic Cadet, the above mentioned Buck Vantage Pro, and a Buck 303 Cadet.
