For Anyone Who Is Negative About Benchmade

Yes, Benchmade CS is very good. The problem is, I've had experience with them more than once.

First it was an omega spring on my D2 mini grip. Second my 530 had tons of blade play. Returned it to BHQ. Replacement was better, but not great. Third, the edge on my 162 bushcrafter rolled the first time I used it, cutting kindling while camping. They ended replacing the whole knife, which I sold promptly.

When the whole MAP and price gouging fiasco hit, I was done. Sold them all.

While the second amendment thing is bothersome, but, it's the way much of the country is going.

I already have two reasons I won't buy.

To quote mqqn, "If you make it right, you won't have to 'make it right.'"

And it's not like getting rid of your own guns is getting guns off the street. If people want to kill people, they'll find a way, whether it's a howitzer or a spork.

To quote Eminem,

"and I'm still loco enough to choke you to death with a Charleston Chew!"

As a Canadian I would prefer better quality control then customer service. A few months ago I went to buy a benchmade, and just about every knife in the store seemed to have vertical blade play, the only one that felt solid was a griptillian but I wasn't interested in it. Spending good money on a knife, just to have to instantly send it over a hostile boarder and pray the boarder agents don't seize it is simply insane.

I sent my crooked river in to get a blue backspacer and pivot collar, left my contact info to call id charge it when it was done. UPS just dropped this off, they did not charge for the parts or return shipping. It was also lubed and sharpened . I am blown away by this kind of service.Got to give them credit for this
Looks great. I’ve been thinking about going to their custom shop and getting a similar combo with their mini Cr.

I really like my Benchmades, I own about 8. The part about helping the local police destroy those guns doesn't bug me. the part that's bugs me is who they support politically. They say that they supported those anti-gunners because it would be beneficial to them as a company but it seems like most of their consumers are pro-gun, pro-2a, Americans. Benchmade "shot" themselves in the foot in my opinion. So it's hard for me to want to carry any of my Benchmades recently because I can't help but think of this political crap. It's kind of like accidently finding out that your friend since childhood was gay the whole time.
-ps I called Benchmade to see if they could do the same thing to my crooked river but they said no and that the only way I could do that was to order a full custom. This was about a year ago though, so I don't know if they changed that or maybe I just talked to the wrong person.

That's a beautiful knife. I have never had any issues with Benchmade products nor service, and I've owned a lot of them over the years.

I'm not selling my Benchmade knives although I'll never buy another, thev've merely been moved to beater status in my rotation. You go to Heaven for the Climate, and Hell for the Company. ;)

I own a few Benchmade knives and they are fine; but, since the political misstep, I have been enjoying Microtech, Protech, Spyderco and Cold Steel products. There are a lot of great knife companies out there, so why should we support one that refuses to support us?

Folks who boycott Benchmade due to the Gun and 2A stance are all gonna close their PayPal right?

Cause it outright bans gun sales and gun accessories with it.

For the record, I fully respect and support boycotting corporations, as long as its consistent. Otherwise it just sounds like hitting a knife company is a convenient statement while a trillion dollar financial corporation isnt.

Can’t argue that BM has great CS, their knives are pretty solid. Love the Osborne design, especially 940. Have contego and 940 and they’ve been great.
That said, I’m bit partial to Microtech brand. To me, their knives are just a bit better and the CS interaction I’ve had with them has so far been positive and they’ve been always “on the ball” for me.
I do think that boycotting BM is a bit silly, my $.02...you keep the change.
