Ford Mustang knife ideas?

Erik, damascus sounds like a neat idea. Especially if I could figure out how to make the pony look chromed and leave the rest of the knife with the damascus pattern.

I built up a little stand for the knife today. Nothing too fancy but it adds some color to the package. The base is a metal case that some sort of watch came in and the part the blade rests on is a shifter knob.

If anyone else makes a knife like this, Mustang or otherwise, PLEASE post pictures. I'm happy with how this one turned out but would love to see how others' turn out.

Thanks again for the comments and help.

Weld some straight steel for the tang onto the damascus for the blade :D

Well that would be an easy enough way to do it.........may have to give that one some thought. Almost makes me feel stooopid for not thinking of it myself.

Thanks,
SDS

Actually I guess you'd have weld a center piece in so the tang edges and butt would etch also...

I ordered 2 blades from David, but I had the stang cut out in the blade, was going to use red/white and blue liners with synthetic white marble. The marble was too brittle,so I'm using birdseye maple for the scales, still using the tricolor liners. This is for my son who has a 08 GT--I didn't have the patience to do the cutout scales like you,and yours did turn out beautifully.I really appreciate your idea, and I will post pics when I get mine done-and I thank David for the great job and service:thumbup:-Regards Butch

Shawn just put a cover on the damascus in the center so it won't etch and mirror polish it. YOu can use nail polish as a cover. The acid won't attack it then. Oh by the way you are ordered to bring that to the show to show everyone what you accomplished. Mike

I can't wait to see some other knives done with the cutouts.

Mike, yes sir. That's part of the reason I wanted to get a stand finished up for it. I've been putting in some late nights trying to finish up everythng and I'm sure I'm going to forget something.

I have decided that I don't like leatherwork. My wrist is kiliing me from making about 13 sheaths in the past couple of nights. Getting closer though.

See you Saturday.
