NO M1 GARANDS WERE HARMED IN THE MAKING OF THIS PRANK

we had this idea after one of my correct HRs blew up at the range on saturday, as far as we can tell the round was double loaded. Quote]

Maybe instead of wasting hours of time to come up with some BS you should be a little more careful handloading... And if your shooting someone elses handloads well then I guess you are dumb enough to sit around and come up with a prank...:(

surplus ammo. ka 72 headstamped korean. ive done found several other bullets in the same case with double loads. im gona dump the corosive stuff and reload them all.

btw check this out

This are ESB badges. Engineers Special Brigade. Extremely rare uniform. Your great uncle guyonthesofa, was a bloke with balls! More than that! These fellows were going in front of every landing to clear mine fields and obstacles under fire. According to Greg this uniform is worth as much as good, I repeat, good car - not Toyota!

looks like my great uncle was some sort of lineman for a esb. by what research ive done and some people ive talked to inclueding the one above and a friend whos a reinactor that uniform is worth far more than any of my garands.

there were 3 esbs ive just got to find out what one he was part of.

Korean Military .30-06????
I think I would stick with US made surplus or factory ammo then...
If their ammo is that bad I would definately stay away!
Blowing up classic military rifles is not good!
Also the "corrosive stuff" is in the priming mixture in the primer.
Probably better off to just dump it. Buy new remington or winchester brass.
Buy surplus loaded USA ammo...

Doesn't it bother you to shoot corrosive primed ammo in your garands?
I guess if you clean them right it doesnt hurt but, I never liked to shoot it in any of my firearms.

I really hoped this was a joke. It apparently was, and in really bad taste. And you sir, are about as much use as a glass hammer.

I suspect most grandchildren of men who served in WWII are a little older than 17 by now. We should have known.

I'm glad I read the whole thread before I start cuzzzing.... you got me really good (I'm a recovering Milsurp addict hehehe) thats why I'm spending my time in the Bladeforum so that I can get away from it. S*&t! I want an M1 now!!!!

You ruined an hierloom you also threw away things that were part of history
BTW that garand is now an illegal piece of junk, the stock you ruined was an intigral part of it even if you find a replacement it will have lowered the worth of the original rifle by sixty to seventy percent. What a fool.

Didn't believe a word ya said then ........or now, so other than wasting time and bandwith you accomplished in your young career here,(20 sumtin' posts) to amuse yourself, congratulations, now see if anyone will play with ya again.

Ken,during & after WW II the 't' denoted technical or technician. This hearkens back to the days when the Em ranks went 1-7,not up to 9 as in the modern military.

Uncle Alan Sfc designate

My great uncle was in WWII and spoke German and French as well as his native Italian. On his uniform was the "T" under his sargeant stripes. I was told by him when I was younger that it meant "translator". Whether or not translators were considered technicians I have no idea.

:) it was a hoax

except for the part about the manix. ;)

Very Very cruel joke, but at the same time rather humorous is a sick sort of way
Just glad to know you didn,t butcher it

I think it would be humorous for the ATF to come knocking and arrest him for make the shorty rifle.

That would be a real knee slapper. Then once convicted..they conficate the other rifles....:D

Seriously, I thought chopping down a rifle like that is a big no-no.

I think this idiot needs to be tied up to a tree, and have golf balls hit at him from 20 paces. :jerkit:

16 inch barrel, 26 inch total. the rifle measured 36 inches total. 10 inches over the legal length both federal and state. i got the idea from a garand that was found at cmp in a crate of 100 garands. the hang tag said that particular sawed off garand was a huey gunners "side arm" in vietnam. it was made in similar fasion with sawed off stock and polished metal if i remember correctly the only difference was that the vietnam gun was missing its front and rear sights.

it crossed my mind about turning it in to a tanker garand. the barrels good just the muzzle has wear. its a "ok" shooter. ive actually used that bare garand ALOT even in bad weather with out cleaning and ive never seen a spot of rust. it was my pos beater garand for a while.

that particular gun was a cmp woodless dane that i requested to have no finish. the gun was bare like that from cmp minus a parked barrel. i sanded the end of the barrel to make it match and polished the other loose parts. dont sweat the other parts eather, they were eather damaged usgi but for the most part they were italian replacements.

lol, i just found this a video game with a sawedoff garand.

Does it work like that for pretty much every body, or did just mess up big time? Too bad they didn't include pictures of his face, or the X-rays of his broken cheek bone!

Edit - Kept reading and found the prank announcement. I'm pretty amused. I'm also pretty relieved that you neither hacked up a servicable Garand nor got lynched by anyone on any of the various forums that have been discussing this. Well, yet anyway. Welcome to bladeforums, and good luck digging yourself out of this hole. :)
