Hello,

This is could be the phonetic writing of GAW in French 😂

It's been a long time since I've proposed a GAW so I would offer this very traditional and old French knife.

You've just to :
- be a member of the Porch, 20 messages will be enough
- interested by the french cutlery
- show a picture of your favorite french pattern ( no need to have the knife)
- Write "I'm in" on the top of you message.

In one week (04/14) I will use this site https://plouf-plouf.fr/ to draw the winner.

I'm in!! Very generous of you! Merci!

Like many here, I have divided loyalties:

. . . and . . .

Both find their way into my daily routine.

The knife commissioned by the town of Le Thiers is a terrific design. This one is a friction folder with a liner lock, which I love as an innovative combination of premodern simplicity and modern technology. I carry this one for more dressy occasions with its slow opening and fine ebony slabs.

"I'm in", please.
I think the venerable functional Opinel is my favorite French pattern that I am aware of.
Though the one you're showing could change that.
Not a lot of French (or other European knives available on Amazon, AAPK, or SMKW.)
I like the Laguiole pattern, but realistically, I have a less than zero chance of getting one. Way out of my budget.
Not mine. My Carbone Number 8 went AWOL and I haven't replaced it yet.

I want to replace it with a Number 5. I don't use/need/want
the blade lock.
Thanks for the chance.😷👍

I'm in Jean-Marc20220303_081011~2-01-01_copy_1280x1162.jpegYour generosity is typical of The Porch. After spending two days reading everything I could find on French cutlery I am torn between several patterns. Right now I'm leaning towards a beautiful Capuchadou in ebony. But, my favorite is my well used Douk Douk.Screenshot_20220406-154717_Chrome.jpg

Does the French version of Scrabble come with extra vowels? 😁

Not an entry for me, J-M, as you were kind enough to send me this wonderful Stephane Thomachot Langres a while back.

While I do thoroughly enjoy that knife/pattern, if I had to pick just one French pattern as my favorite it would be the Opinel. Not an exciting choice, admittedly, and they’re aren’t perfect, but there’s just something about them that I love. Super slicey, easy to sharpen, affordable, classic.

Before I am in is that knife stainless or carbon? I don't want to put my name in the hat for a knife I'm not likely to keep and I am not likely to keep a carbon knife. I do want to say I already love this thread because I hadn't heard of this knife before which reminds me a bit of a single blade doctors knife a little.
The queue de poisson might be my favorite French pattern.

For me right now my favored is still the Laguiole I need to do some fixing to mine but I do still carry it some.

The queue is always carbon, though I have a feeling Jolipapa corrected me the last time I said that.
