French regional knives...

No, in fact it was a certain Mr Mouche who alledgedly invented the system.
I can only suppose it was abandoned because it stressed the forged spring.
In Nogent the system was different with the spring sitting outside ("palme") better suited for a ring opener.

Nice one, never heard of it :thumbsup::thumbsup:
M.Mouche??
That's too mouche . . . . errr. . .much!!:D:D:p:p

The story of Mireille la mouche who meets Raymond in jail. They become friends and while waiting to be freed he teaches her some tricks.
First day he's out, he goes to the next bar, to have a drink and make some money with Mireille's show. But the waiter with his thumb... :(;)

I'll have to trust you.

Hello, I've just received these two Aveyronnais (laguioles without "mouche" ) from a friend.
They have bene fully dismantled, rebuilt with other scales (bone and exotic wood ).
The job is perfect because my friend has kept the imperfect style of these poor-man-Laguiole .

Restored to perfect imperfection!!:D Great tributes to this "poor" man's style!!
Actually you are "rich", Â, to own these great knives!!

Superb! I am fond of Massoptier, no-frills but sturdy, well made tools.

screened porch screened porch : right, the son still makes a few Lags and he is a purveyor of parts for the Salers he invented. I think these date of the father who dealed a lot with cottage workers in the mountain.

I'm not sure, Lacroix came long time before, but these little knives sold well in western France and there was place enough for two (or more) though the Lacroix is the only one with painted slabs (and gator snap :D).

A nicely laden blanket Alain - I like this one most of all

It is a Charlois or Charolais, from the beef country in Burgundy, where it was used mostly by stockmen and farmers.

Jolipapa Jolipapa Comprehensive team there, much back-up and some decent Stag. What's the interesting knife on its own at the top? Looks very rustic

Thanks, Will
Not so rustic, this is ivory, but ancient for sure. Dates of the XIXth century, marked Vigier (shop still exists, sold after WWI to Destannes), in Aurillac (coldest place in France), who created it and was brought from that town to the Paris suburb by my great grandfather. This is the old Aurillac pattern, which I much prefer to the less elegant rounded recent one.
