French regional knives...

kamagong kamagong Important aspect  Being able to dismantle the knife without specialist tools or lengthy skill is an enticing idea. Any kind of sand or grit wreaks havoc with folders, spring knives in particular  in the garden, I like a Opinel as it has no backspring or liners and I can wash it out and let dry when needed.

This design definitely has its advantages. Owners of modern folders often make much ado of the ability to take apart a knife for maintenance. I don’t do it often, and I certainly don’t need or even want to take apart all my knives, but it’s nice having one I don’t have to worry about. Especially for those times I might have to lend it out to people who are less than conscientious about letting food juices gunk up the pivot.

My experience of F-P shipping International (admittedly one EU nation to another but..) has always been excellent. Just to let you weigh it up, also if you buy direct from them you custom order the knife you want :) That birthday of yours is not so far off.....

They were great to deal with, an email or 2 and I received exactly the special handle for the knife I wanted - with a lifetime guarantee - yes - and free S&H

In case I miss it Vince - Bon anniversaire! or as we say in Canada - Bonne fête!

Now go out and buy yourself a new knife! :)

Indeed, I always like to cut the fruit I eat-well the bigger stuff anyway (grapes, cherries, berries?;) no) slices of peach, pear, melon etc especially on picnics add to the savour, but fruit pulp/juice glues up the pivot like you say:mad: need to wash that out where possible. Modern knives can be 'stripped down' yes but doesn't excite me much and you often need a variety of tools, too boring :D

You guys are not making this easy for me. I think my next knife might just have to be a Laguiole.
My Laguiole is my best knife for picnics. Or any kind of kitchen duty.
