kamagong Important aspect Being able to dismantle the knife without specialist tools or lengthy skill is an enticing idea. Any kind of sand or grit wreaks havoc with folders, spring knives in particular in the garden, I like a Opinel as it has no backspring or liners and I can wash it out and let dry when needed.
This design definitely has its advantages. Owners of modern folders often make much ado of the ability to take apart a knife for maintenance. I don’t do it often, and I certainly don’t need or even want to take apart all my knives, but it’s nice having one I don’t have to worry about. Especially for those times I might have to lend it out to people who are less than conscientious about letting food juices gunk up the pivot.
