French regional knives...

I stumbled across Opinel's Slim line and had to pick one up. I love the classic Opinel handle...but not in my pocket. This #8 Slim weighs just 1.0 oz and is intended for use as a table/fruit/picnic knife. The Bubinga version comes with a lovely polished blade, too.

If you're a fan of needle tips and thin edges, this blade is so thin it's difficult to photograph. :eek::D

"Wedding's knife" given to the bridegroom could be up to 30cm. :) They were very sleek, like this one. I guess there was a kind of hush in the dining room when you open her!

Way Cool, JP!!
There is a similar custom in parts of Italia!! A special wedding knife!!

I had planned on ordering a shadow Laguiole with juniper covers and carbon steel blade from Renaud Aubry. But I stumbled upon this Laguiole en Aubrac d'Autrefois and I am mesmerized by it. Look at the shape of that blade! So sleek, so pointy, so elegant. What do I do? :(

Well??? Man of your usual resolve shouldn't be dithering around like this :D

Horn looks very good, but 14 is a big Lag despite JP's pictures of folding wedding cutlasses :eek::D

Can't go on forever......;)

I consider the Opinel 8 the quintessential folder. Why does it need to be better? :thumbsup:
What does it need to be better? RHETORICAL QUESTIONS those. :rolleyes:

At least I won't hear from this crowd that it needs a pocket clip - though if I attached
a pocket clip I would never be without an OPINEL ;)

Carried my Laguiole most of the day, got my Opinel No. 8 in my pocket now. What a slicer!

Deux Laguiole de plus de 40 ans (3 pièces 13cm manche en corne Gene David, 11cm manche en corne de Nightingale) et un jeune (manche 11cm plein noyer par Pierre-Yves Joyeux)
Those are lovely. :cool::thumbsup:

Lol...thanks for sharing your thoughts Will. I found that Laguiole on a blog. I called, but the shopkeeper told me that the knife has been long sold. Probably for the best, like you said 14 cm is a big Lag.

Besides, I've been sidetracked recently by Japanese sharps. They've captured my imagination more than pocketknives.
