Thanks for the background info on the Camargue Cross,That's the Camarguaise cross uniting the symbols of Faith, Hope and Charity.
The Camargue is a coastal country of horses (camarguais), toros and red flamingos. And some rice too.
Aigues-mortes (Dead waters) was a harbour from where started some crusades, but now is a good few miles from the sea.

The older ones aren't as refined as modern offerings, but unless my eyes are deceiving me, that backspring goes all the way to the end of the bolster.
The backspring does not go to the end of the bolsters on this one.

Apologies for the confusion. The backspring does not go all the way to the end of the bolsters for most Alpin knives. That comment referred to the knife pictured after yours.
Superb range of Lags there, particularly like the smaller Shadow Horn example top left 2nd down.![]()

Some Laguiole knives, from the industrial to the artisanal, more or less old

When there's doubt... The de-facto stainless steel used for real Laguioles is 12c27 (or higher grade for more expensive knives). 420 steel screams China/Pakistan... And so does the low cost.A question, for the more knowledgeable.
Are Laguiole Style de Vie made in France? They are about 22 EUR/USD in online shops.
I know the company Style de Vie is Dutch and sells a lot of cutlery etc., but, their Laguiole come with a certificate saying they are a french product (Produit de France).
Since they are being sold in EU online shops I would assume they are telling the truth.
Are they made in France by some big cutlery factory, for a low cost?

I know that, and they look similar (and cost) close to what a Pakistani knife would be, cheaper than even Bougna, but they advertise being made in France. When there's doubt...
