Friend of mine found old Knifetest.com video/ THIS is the Joe X DESTRUCTION VIDEO Thread

I watched the JoeX video but I skipped through the stupid stuff and I only watched the knife bits.

Like a Spice Girls video I found it was better to watch it with the sound off so I missed all the other crap.

Silly really that the knife pieces are not being sent back to see what info we can gather but maybe the monetisation from the video is more than enough to cover his lose, it's a strange one for as Jerry is being very generous all things considered.

Can't understand why Joex doesn't want to return the pieces....
probably joe thinks that if he returns the pieces, their would not be physical proof, and busse can wipe out the vids...

This reminds me a long time ago when cliff broke two mad dog TUSKs, they refused to return the pieces. Then MD deleted the review thread and claims that Cliff got fake ones, joe probably feared this treatment would happen.(Obviously he doesn't know the busse way )
However, Cliff had always communicated with the best intention, he chose to trust the maker initially every time. He even remained his class and grace even when MD insulted him with racialism. Why? Because his only wish is a proper analysis to find out the cause, and help with improvement.

When noss broke two CRK knives, he didn't offend CRK with any vulgar language, he simply said:" man ,this is such a good knife looks can take a hell lot of beating." "many much cheaper knives made to steel cutting, this just broke on the wood."
There is disappointment, shock, confusion and fact ,but zero insult.
Why?
Because they set out for unbiased review and betterment of community.
They communicate with grace and kind intentions, assuming every knife maker is open and transparent. However, joe has such an ego and imagination that every reputable brand is all supported by hypes and fan boys and he is the only hero. this is why he would never stand in the same class as Noss and Cliff.

Ok so in Joe X's response I guess he said that he is editing out his worst derogatory comments under the community tab but he will not be returning the pieces.

The video will be reposted without some of those particular jokes
Not returning the pieces is a little unfair since something was obviously wrong with the blade. But I guess we will never know now.

I still stand to refund him.

If it were me I’d stick it to the haters and send him three more .35 thick blades on the house. See what they say then.

Well this is a real bummer all around. As mentioned earlier, Joe said he's not returning the pieces so there's no way we'll ever get to hear the results of Jerry's analysis. This video is now a total flop for those of us who were interested in the steel's performance and getting questions answered as to why the steel failed in the manner it did and sooner than some of us expected. What a waste.

I’m not worried about it. That dude is so biased against any mid to high end American knife manufacturer.

In my humble opinion, he doesn't swing anything like he swings TOPS. He REALLY has a hard-on for that brand. He has such an obsession with 'em that he makes short vids insulting and trolling them.

How much crack is he smoking?

There was never going to be any other outcome, it was braindead from the start.

I would have offered to send the pieces to Busse even without being offered a full refund under the same circumstances...
It says a lot (to me) that he won't.
Ah well.
Hope he enjoys what's left of his AFBM.

Did some (minimal) research on the WTG Ares specs and this is what I found,

overall length.....16.1
blade length......9.25
Cutting edge.....8.26
thickness...........(.25)
weight...............35oz (some people say its 38oz but that might have been the prototype)

Wait... 35/38 ounces!? I have Busse blades that are .25 thick and 9 inches are almost a pound lighter. So How can the Ares have a .25 thick 9inch blade and weigh as much as a full sized Butaniku at over 2lbs??

The answer is that geometry. The Ares blade is .25 for more than half of the blade height. Couple that with lower HRC and boom, nearly indestructible slab of steel.

Most Busses are either Full flat grinds or high saber grinds that improve cutting performance.

An "Ares" Busse is basically the trough raider.. except the trough raider is about 10 ounces lighter, sharpens quickly, 60HRC, semi stainless, and backed by a lifetime guarantee.

If you want a non stainless, mid 50's hrc, Bull warranty that's only valid for 6 months(HAHA), and is heavy as ****, then go ahead and spend your $288 dollars on it.
To me a non warrantied, low HRC, rust prone brick of steel isn't worth more than a 40oz Fiskars axe.

Yet Joe x praised it just because he couldn't break it. Not because its a good knife.

He couldn’t break the T1 Tracker either.

you know, the with the increase of width, the rigidity parallel to the blade increases exponentially. I discussed the spine wacking is especially tilted towards such "steel blanks".

Though factually there is an amount lack of science. The AFBM chipped heavily, unlike the old tests by Noss and Cliff nor the new ones by vlad. This is very confusing.
Yet he refuses to send the pieces. which makes it impossible to find out the cause. Also, he refuses to get a replacement for free, making it hard to eliminate any fluke
