Friendly reminder for tonights GW sale

Well, I wanted to buy a Muddy Skeleton Warden and a few Fire Wardens at BCS prices and guess what, that's what I paid.

I wanted to buy a Tiger Warden also, but you win some, you loose some. If I want one bad enough, I can get a Tiger Warden for about $280.

To be honest, I'm glad I have missed a few knives. I spend enough already. When I want one bad enough, I open up my wallet and get it done.

And what is inflated?
Different strokes for different folks on that one, Tony. There are some people who won't purchase a production knife for more than the store charges, period! To them, 10 cents above retail is inflated. To me, 10 cents above retail is unnecessary.

That is not specific enough. What is your exact number on a $217 Warden. What is you opinion (in numbers) on what it should sell for?

Here is mine. For example. I just bought several knives some other guys. To do that here is what it takes.

First I sit at the computer for a half hour and say I score.

Second I risk that they back out of the deal and I have to list the knife and sell it myself. And that costs me more time. It has happened before.

Second I have to do all the communications to get payment.

Then I have to repackage the knife.

Then I have to go to the P.O. and send the knife.

Then I may have to deal with a lost package.

To me .... unless you are one of the guys that I know will do that for me I'm not doing all that for nothing. If you think I should well we just are not going to ever reach a common ground.

edit: and anyone that does all of that for the purposes of making money needs to go get a paper route or something that pays about minimum wage.

Why should ANY of us have to pay a markup for knives that are in current production?
....................

This sentence caught my eye so I have to respond. This is what I understand from speaking to Skunk, Jerry and Garth over the years.

A currect production knife from the Busse Combat Knife Company is first offered directly from Busse, as the BATAC is now. Once the current production run ends, Skunk places a final order of the most popular combos, or what he thinks will sell on the BCS, and that order is filled at the tail end of the current production run.

The Game Wardens are not in current production. They are a special run that Skunk has ordered directly from Jerry and Garth. Much the same way military teams/groups order their INFI-ware. These military pieces are often offered in the Extravaganzas if there was an overrun. So, since the GWs are a limited, special run that Skunk has made available on the BCS it shouldn't be too surprising that they are selling for a premium on the secondary market.

I hope that helps to put this issue to rest. I'd also like to mention that I tried for over an hour to nab a Fire Warden. I only caught a glimpse of one once. NO REGRETS!!!

Skunk, Jerry or Garth - If I have mis-stated anything, please feel free to edit my post or contact me to correct it. Thanks!

More great background info. Thanks, RVO3VOM. Clear one thing up for me if you wouldn't mind. Are you saying that Skunk has no input into what Jerry produces in the way of GW's? Obviously, pre-orders wouldn't make much sense if he's as surprised by what he receives as we are.

So you are saying no one should be able to buy a Busse with resale in mind?

This is America, you might be happier in North Korea or China.

Welll just some observations:

1. I think the problem with resellers is more apparent with the GW for several reasons. First the initial asking price of a GW is more affordable, generally under $250 which means that more people can afford them (greater demand) but it is also more feasible for someone to buy them in bulk. Further the size of the GW makes them more in demand as edc or utility knives in an urban setting than say an SFNO. Additionally they were offered in a great number of flavors only available from the store. Result - feeding frenzy...like McDonald's happy meals when they were giving out beany babies. For the higher price knives eg HOGSTJAC LE which were available from Busse directly maybe this is not as much a problem.

2. Tony G you are not a problem reseller. 10% is ok with me. Really though its not the mark up its the profiteering. If I wanted a GW and couldn't get it through the store and you came along with your 10% mark up - ok. If your sale thread was right below one with 16 + knives offered at a 7 % mark up, guess what? I'd still buy from you.

Nobody thinks paying an upcharge doesn't suck, but I know that $280 GW off the exchange will be worth more than that if I ever tire of it. I firmly believe that a Flamin' GW will be selling for $400 + in just a few years from now.

How much did an Off Duty or MS cost originally? Stunning what they go for now! How many more of those were made than the GW's. It's a safe bet at any markup in my oppinion.

I'll respectfully disagree.

I don't think the BCS Wardens will break $400 any time soon.

People bought spares because the price was low. As demand increases, lots of spares will become available and depress the price.

I know I would rather have a Meaner Street than a Fire Warden. If any one has a Meaner Street and disagrees, send me a PM.

I would like to be second in line for this offer for sure! Wardens are cool, but/................:D

I would rather have a MS also, but the number of wardens is just a fraction of the regular production knives.

In fact I don't like the GW at all, bought 3 hoping to trade up!!!!!

I am new here and I am Just wondering if anyone can name a knife from the old line that has not nearly doubled in value? I personally paid $435 for a mint cg SJ last night. Think that went for $227 originally?

I don't think the Stealth Hawk has really doubled yet. I'm not sure what a Basic 9 sold for but you can buy them for a reasonable price.

"So you are the evil profiteer."

No he's not...a profiteer..I don't know about evil though ;)

But if you invested the 227 (cost of the cgsj originally) that amount would have grown... or if you charged it and didn't pay it off immediately it would cost more that the $227 so...

did the person selling you the knife for 435 realize a profit and can you assume that the value will redouble to make your knife a good investment?

in the end those are questions one cannot always answer so best you buy knives you like and hope for the best...if you assume they won't appreciate you won't be disappointed and if they do you'll be pleasantly surprised.
