Fusion Battle Mistress - Distress

The CBT is very subtle you should be able to wipe them clean with a cloth, they look very acute (probably a light effect) but they are not.

Yeah, it does make sense. But what about peanut butter and jelly?

Alex, I'd be more worried about the shards of glass from the jars of peanut butter and jelly after you hack your way in. Besides, with greater surface area, the CBT ridges will actually retain more jelly and peanut butter. This will serve to highten your blade licking experience. ;)

It is true that the grooves are not anywhere near as deep as they appear. PB&J might hang in there, but a good wipe down ought to get it out of there. I didn't think I would like them on the CG FBM, but the more I handled them at Blade, the more I think they add to the appearance of the CGs. I would like to get one CG and one LE, but we'll see what happens. :) I might retire my well used Basic 9. :)

how do you clean peanut butter out of your grooves?

vicki got some stuck in hers and it's a bitch to get out after it hardens :thumbdn:

.
oh, and don't try to lick it out...

you might get your tongue cut off!

What's so funny man? You act like I buy them all up. :) If I get there after Cobalt, I'll have to wait for the first 1000 to ship before I even see one or two. :D

It is the grooves that make the knife easier to withdraw when hunting. Want just 1 big blood groove? it served the same purpose. Knife retrieval. Course you can get the plain and just let the grizzly run away with your knife. Laughing out loud, echoeing. Silly bear. Ever hear the comedic effect that has on the woods?

In a word, no. Blood grooves, more properly known as fullers, were developed to reduce blade weight and add rigidity. Any suction benefits were purely coincidental.

Mike Stewart of Bark River knives maintains that there is ABSOLUTELY no suction benefit due to fullers. (See Jerzee Devil for details.)

If you know a very good knife grinder there in Brazil, or anywhere else for that matter, you could have the FBM carefully reground to your specs, such as .2 or .19, while eliminating the grooves. If your grinder speaks with Jerry about his technique prior to grinding, the service shouldn't have any efect on your bullet proof warranty. You might even inquire about the cost of having that done by the custom shop, although Bill Siegle might cut you a better price...
Best wishes.

edited for spelling

I have Steel Heart models in all widths and the difference in weight is only a couple of ounces from the thinnest to the heaviest. So in the FBM I can't see it would make much difference in carrying. Maybe the weight of one 45-70 cartridge.
For heavy use, I prefer the heaviest blade so If I have to worry about a couple of extra ounces, then I'll be looking something less significant that can be pared down. Like maybe my own weight!

"those grooves on the blade"

If Jerry likes it it's good enough for me! :p

That does not apply to CBL.

I was WAY excited about getting a FBM in .25" thickness. The thicker .32" version is just a little too much for me, I had a HOFSH. When I saw that the standard FBM had the corrugated bevels my heart sank. I wanted a satin or a doublecut in the standard thickness really bad.

If the badger or the folder have these bevels I'll just cry. :(

I hate to complain because I do love Busse Combat knives but these bevels are just....... not for me.

The bevels have got to be, aesthetically, the worst thing to come out of the Busse shop. They are the reason I didn't buy a Hell Razor or a Pork Belly Skinner. I just do not like the look of the knife with those grooves running along side the edge of the blade. Functionally they may be the best thing ever put on a Busse blade, but as far as looks go...:barf: :thumbdn: That being said I am still going to buy a CG version. I've been waiting too long for this blade. I'll just have to beat the crap out of the knife so that the functional beauty shines out and I forget how stupid the thing looks:D

The groove are OK. THe new design is asthetically nouveau and stylish while still retaining the high qualiity and performance of previous models.
My gosh.... I think it's the Metrosexual Battle Mistress!
