FYI: Knifeworks accepting pre-orders for S90V Manix XL Tuesday....

I got mine in today. I don't usually like carbon fiber handles, but these have a very good texture and feel to them. This is my first Manix XL and have to say it fits my hand perfectly. I can't wait to whittle some wood with it. I ordered two, and neither of them came super sharp. Not bad as it will pop hairs easily, but it won't whittle hairs multiple times like my ZT350 M390 did.

I was a little disappointed in the uneven grind on one of them, and the other had a slightly off center blade.

Got mine just now. Definitely the CF is a lot grippier than my Military M390. So, that's nice. Perhaps better than the Taichung CF/G10 laminates. Blade is sharp and centered. All good!

Got mine yesterday, blade centering is perfect, grind is a little heavy on one side especially the tip, but my wicked edge will fix that. The carbon fiber surprised me with the texture, its like the normal g10 version. Overall very pleased :)

I received my S90V Manix XL and it's perfect just like my PM2 in S90V. I also have a regular Manix 2 XL from the early batches without skeletonized liners and I was surprised I could feel the difference in weight in comparison. Thanks Knifeworks and Spyderco. :love_heart:

Got my two. 99.9% of the time im not very nit picky about blade centering but a little bummed with these. My $95 s30v version impressed me more out of the box.

Yeah, hard to argue with that pic Eric. Send Roger an email with the pic while they still have em; you should be happy when you spend 440 for 2 knives. My one came in Th and it is a tad off centering wise, but your two look a little more. Love this sprint overall though.

Mine's a tick off center also, but nothing's even close to rubbing. It's centered enough for me. Mine's a user and a keeper, not an investment. I suppose if I was a collector, I might try and get a centered one though. ;)

Finally got my two from the second batch, last week, just barely making it for Christmas after spending 10 days in Customs. The good part was not getting hit up for taxes and brokerage.

For those getting their knives from the third batch.Did you get the info sheet, as I didn't.

As for my two, they are centered but have other issues like : on one missing metal on the jimping,on another - a rather large edge or micro bevel, on one of them there was no blue loctite on the pivot screw instead was applied to the pivot.

Of all the several sprints I've bought I would have to say the QC on these are terrible. As they are all usually near perfect.

User/flipper/queen/whatever. I have over 150 spydercos I use on a regular basis and maybe a dozen queens, I know whAt to expect from them, occasional off centered blade and all, no biggie. My s30v m2xl is one of my favs and came perfect. When I saw this new s90 variation I was exceedingly excited and jumped immediately. Being that I paid $110 more for this version then my Other, I couldnt help but note my disappointment above. First time I ever have in this regard. I do however love the knife and wont be returning them, not my style.

No attempt, not much experience since it typically isnt bothersome. Tinker with the pivot is the first step right?

Typically I loosen all of the screws and push/pull on the scales/liners. Sometimes it solves the issue completely. Other times it only gets slightly better.

For some reason, it doesn't work as well on knives with a bushing system/stepped pivot (whatever it's being called these days) as it does with a traditional pivot bolt. Typically I would loosen all the body screws and picot screws by a a full turn or 2, then wedge a piece of paper between the blade and liner, then proceed to tighten the pivot all the way down, followed by the handle screws. Finally you'd loosen the pivot just enough to suit your desired tension level. These knives (Manix2, Manix XL, Para2, and some new Militarys) are apparently supposed to have the optimal tension set automatically when both pivot screws are tightened all the way. This is the case with the 20+ Para2 and 12 or so Manix knives I have. Some people report this is not the case. Think of a Sebenza 21 pivot bolt.

BIOG & C many thx for taking the time to try and assist
Rev, Doin as you mention keeps me out of the disassembly crowd right? :p No less awesome step by step man. I have a model thats BEAT Im gonna try that with

Loosening screws does not mean you disassembled it. ;-) Just make sure you have good torx keys and don't strip any of the heads.

Get them while you can as I think this exclusive is close to being history.Check out the dealers site for an update.I think the final batch is in transit.I really like this knife as it is a really light larger folder in CF and S90V.I love the Manix series since the legacy models came out..I gave my original production Manix 2 Xl to my 2nd Pappy for his birthday this past weekend. The KW Manix 2 XL will ride with me for a long time.I can't seem to let my Legacy Manix 80MM go as it's a tank and have field dressed and skinned many bucks with it.Memories and good times.Don't miss this one if you have a fondness for the Manix 2 XL and can afford the funds.......
Best wishes,
salmonkiller
