The "sharpening notch" is known as a Spanish Notch, though I've been told that Ethan himself referred to it as a choil lol.. can't win 'em all at terminology.

Im pretty sure choil is correct still, those spanish notches are shaped differently according to google. it is more rounded like a circle from what i can see

Spanish Notch has the much more mundane function as a tool for stripping sinew and repairing rope and nets, as a guide to assist in sharpening the blade (assuring that the sharpening process starts at a specific point and not further up the edge), or as a point to relieve stress on the blade during use.

The tornado that hit Washington, Illinois, near Peoria, was classified as an F4:

Scary stuff man! I remember one day I was driving home with a buddy and we heard the sirens going off, so flipped on the radio to the local weather (it was a F1) we couldn't find anywhere to get off the highway, and there weren't any overpasses or anything so we kept driving. Apparently came pretty damn close to it too, car was blowing all over the road but it wasn't THAT bad. I can't imagine an F4 though! Those are wicked beasts!

Oh, and my Magua, I ran it out to 20° side. It isn't quite AS slicey as the MM100 but it's still really flippin' slicey! That and it comes to a MUCH finer point (all the better to stab you with my dear). Also, yes I'm slightly crazy today :D I feel like WW after a 2 liter of Pepsi!

Truly scary shit. .My thoughts are with everyone affected by this.

Good luck on the S&R, trade.

Yeah, it was bad man. Really scary shit. The same area was hit by a tornado a few years ago as well.

LOL, shoot 60° is cold for me. Its atleast in the upper 80's most of the time and 100's in the summer

100's in the summer would kill me. I'm a winter lover and would prefer cold to hot any day. Although, it's supposed to be about 10°F on opening day for gun deer hunting where I"ll be at. I'm not sure I'm ready for Jan / Feb temps yet. I do like to ease into that!

Winter person here as well. Fall and winter are my favorite times of the year. I can't stand the higher temps. If it's cold, you can always add more layers of clothing to stay warm. If it's hot, you can go naked, and it's still hot.

This, This Exactly ! There always seem to be good ways to get warm, but cooling off, is an entirely different matter.

They key to staying cool in hot weather is not to move around so much and under shade. There have been times were I go to sleep sweating and wake up sweating a d pretty much sweating all day until the heat wave blows over. I would say 72-75° is my ideal weather. This past summer it hit 110° at the highest

My ideal temp is 58 with a southerly breeze (5-10mph). It is perfect for hiking, cool enough to keep you from dying of heat exhaustion.

Being of German, Polish an Scots heritage (with smatterings of other northerly climes) makes me suited to colder temps. Guys at work kid about me wearing shorts pretty much all the time from March to December. If it's above freezing, I'm almost always in shorts - my legs hardly ever get cold. I sweat like a fountain in anything over 70° if I'm moving around. Where I was chopping wood this summer there's a circle of dead grass from all the sweat that poured out where I was standing and swinging the maul. I just abhor (WOTD!) that I sweat so much, but ain't nothing I can do. I still dig summer, but that's because I can sweat out beer faster than I can drink it. Fall, especially, and winter are my favorite seasons, too. Still remember this hike up Mt. Lafayette I did with a friend, in February - 15° at the start. 15 min. later I was stripped down to an undershirt and a t-neck, sweating. My buddy was shaking his head, laughing. Had to put another layer on once we got above treeline, and some more (dry) layers on when we were going back down, though. Less aerobic work and I'm not that inured to the cold. Gawd I hate sweating....

They key is not to be in the hot weather in the first place. Or to be submersed, preferably naked, in my pool. With an ice cold beer in my hand.

Super nice job on WW's sheath, BTW. Outstanding.

Getting better with the recurve at 10 yards, kept them in a 4-5" grouping this time, 2 arrows in the "bullseye" 2 sets of shots the arrows were touching. I was so excited i hollered at the wife to come down to watch LMAO But i need an arm guard BAD the string rubbed my arm one time and hurt like hell, i got a red rash looking bruise half way down my arm now.

Super fun!!

Need to get out to an archery range so i can shoot at different ranges.

You're holding the bow wrong. You need to rotate your arm so that he inside of your elbow is parallel with the string, then it won't rub as much, or not at all. I say this, knowing how it works, but still do it wrong myself, and have ripped slabs of meat from my arm by not paying attention. I wear an arm guard.
