You've only been here a few months though, I've been here over 2 years. It's not just here, I think I'm getting burned out on the whole forum thing. Same ol' same ol'.

Someone needs to make you a mod then, hehe. That's a whole different experience. Lots of time involved.

If I had SLIGHTLY more income, I'd say we should collaborate and make some of your designs a reality. Having a tough time having the cash flow to get more steel right now though, as my wife's had 2 car accidents, which have resulted in about 10 grand of unexpected expenses, which is really slaughtering my cash flow. I may even have to liquidate some of the rest of my collection :(

That is a drag, Crim. Hope your wife's OK. Reality check, tho: liquidating the rest of your collection doesn't seem like it would even start to address those kinds of bills. Hang in there, buddy. You never know what tomorrow will bring, or how things will turn out. I try to tell my wife this all the time, especially when she's freakin' out: the future has yet to be written. She never listens to me, though, and freaks out anyway. And I can never say "I told you so!" when it turns out I'm right, which I almost always am...cause the future is not written. Good luck.

... Please don't let me win this GAW by default.

Thanks for that, Mike.

I had thought of dropping a note about it here, but I don't hang out in the snark thread too much and didn't want to appear presumptuous or anything.
But it would be great to see the action get some traction.

Turned on the Discovery Channel tonight.
Bear Grylls new show was on.
Within 5 minutes he was drinking his own piss out of a Nalgene bottle.
That dude loves him some urine!!
"Hey Bear! How 'bout an ice cold beer?"
"No thanks. I'd rather drink this warm bottle of urine. It's just delicious! In fact, it's all I drink!"

I 2nd this motion.

bring on some new steel!!

I know of the kukri, but i hope there is a new "knife" in the works before too long too.

Well, the new year is almost upon us. You know Ka-Bar is gonna have some new stuff for us. Can't wait to see what it'll be.

Ya know, if it came down to drinking my wizz or dying, I think I'm ready to meet my maker. Or, ya know, just not end up in that situation in the first place.

So because I've been calling in sick the last two weeks, my next paycheck is gonna be short about $300. I was supposed to do some OT yesterday but it got canceled. Then I get offered OT on Saturday so I snatched that up. Then more on Sunday. Then another on Tuesday. So I'll be pulling five 13 hour shifts in a row, have one day off, and go back for another 5 shifts. But I'll have an extra $700 or $800 on that paycheck. So that's gonna be nice. Plus holiday pay for working thanksgiving so probably an extra $1000 with everything. And next month I work Christmas and New Years Day (night) but I have New Year's eve off so I can party. Last year they fell in the same Pay period and it was a few hundred extra, I wanna say $500 extra but I'm not sure.

The flipside of all that extra scratch is I miss most major holidays. I haven't been to thanksgiving dinner since 2005. That kinda wears on me a little but I'll live. I remember on year on thanksgiving I was living in a motorhome and my microwave broke and I didn't have LPG for the stove so I had to cook hot dogs with a Bic lighter. :thumbdn:

Life brings good and bad, I have been homeless and hungry with stories most wouldnt believe or would judge me because of. I have seen really hard times that most will never know, thank the spirits, but those hard times makes you truly grateful for what you do have. I have never had a lot of money, to me 50 grand a year is a very wealthy person and i never made that in my life. But because of my experiences im truly thankful for the things i get and the family that surrounds me and I never judge another for what they do or dont have.

Now switching it up, drinking urine is close to pointless. And unless you know you are close to being saved or getting close to a fresh water source if only you could make it a little further it can do more harm than good and i dont care nothing about bear grylls or what he says. Do your own research on the matter. Id die with pride rather than die with a mouth full of piss. I have taken multiple survival courses and read more on the subject than any person should. Its just not worth it in most situations.

You can drink urine 1 to 2 times in an extreme emergency but remember, urine is how you pass waste products out of your body. There is more water than waste products in a well hydrated individual however the ratio goes down as your hydration levels go down. Hence your urine will become darker colored as you become more dehydrated. To turn around and put those waste products back into your body and force it to process and filter them again causes more work and bogs your body systems down. This forces your body to need more water to complete the body processes and once again try and pass these waste products yet again, in addition to the new waste products created by the increased workload. It is a process of diminishing returns and eventually your body will shut itself down.

Just to be clear about my situation, I wasn't living in a motorhome out of necessity, I was just trying to save money. It was set up in an RV park with full hookups and the only reason I had to cook hotdogs with a lighter was because it was thanksgiving in a small town and nothing was open. After two years I finally got fed up with that shizzel and got an apartment. Which had it's downsides besides being more expensive. I'm lucky now because I'm in a decent house in a nice area with some cool housemates. It's cheap and I don't have to put up with jerkwads. I do have to wear pants though and that's rather a nuisance at times...

Carry a proper water filter and you can filter your urine to make it safer in a pinch

Wow, there's actually a little snark in the tank this morning....good to see.
Carry a proper water filter and you can filter your urine to make it safer in a pinch
Or, you could use it to filter....water...
Happy Thirstday, everyone!
Happy Thor's day to you, James. Getting hammered?

Yes and no, a commercial water filters wont filter urine very well, they dont remove sodium molecules and thats one thing you need to remove when filtering urine, same as salt water. boiling and collecting the evaporation is your best bet really. but if you have a water filter it would be better than nothing.

If you need links to prove what im saying just ask. I have dont quite a bit of survival training and this topic is always beat to death. We call it the "Urine urban legends"

Having some crazy headaches this morning, all behind my left eye.

Caffeine.... Need caffeine...

But i have not had the crazy chest feeling, rapid HARD beating heart, or anxiety since i quit drinking it.
