Gareth bull: Slow Delivery/waitlist thread

A regrind takes minutes, I for one see it as a positive and a sign that he is working and making knives. The lack of communication is unacceptable but thats not new. MadRookie is sharpening at least some of the knives Gareth is making, and considering the likelyhood that he has customers who don't hang out on forums, any sign of work is a good one for those waiting. His absence for over a year was not the result of him intending to steal everyones money, from what I understand he was not able to make any knives for over a year!

I for one have done numerous regrinds and they take a while to do. It is not merely minutes...especially on s110v steel.

Regardless of the circumstances even if he wasn't able to make knives for over a year , he is able to now and can crank them out.

It does NOT take 6 months to make one knife...these are not art knives.

He has proven time and time again he cannot make deadlines and his word means nothing.

He will do work for locals and friends before paying customers. Proven by him making and completing the bantam weight miura designed knife for Guy Vanderveken, before completing outstanding backlogged orders and taking regrinds for extra cash.

Obviously I have nothing against the locals of SA who are able to get work done by Gareth, but it is very upsetting and disheartening to see that Gareth ignores his paying customers but still will communicate and do work for them.

I can continue to say how frustrated I am with Gareth and how crappy this situation is, but anyone reading this already knows.

There not much more to say :grumpy:

I have been following this thread and am very disappointed in the fact that I will likely never own a small Warlock-that is one of the coolest and cleanest designs out there. What a shame.

Everyone keeps talking about emailing Mr. Bull but he does not reply. Does he not have a phone number?

he does but calling from USA to SA is expensive to say the least. Also there are forum members here that are in contact with him but fail to respond to our pleas for information.

there is also some people that are in SA and are more than willing to help out but they don't know his physical address.

Gareth did finally respond to an e-mail I sent the same time I last posted here. It was a brief apology response stating he is progressing well lately. He said he would give a better update in the near future.

Read into that what you will. Just wanted to share he did respond as I would want to know if I visited this thread; as I often do.

I have no dog in this fight, but it always seems that Gareth is good at giving updates, only to say that he will give a better update later. Yet, he never comes and posts a true update--it's always little cryptic messages here and there.

Anyway, like I said before, I think his knife designs are some of the cleanest around--maybe someday he will get it all together and start catching up.

wish he would answer my emails... after all I was supposedly next on his making list as stated a couple pages back.

There's not much organization here on his part.

Ive done regrinds as well Wolf, they dont take hours, s110v or not! Perhaps he is doing regrinds to pay for materials to finish knives for those who are waiting. I hope you see your knife, I think you will, and hopefully in some small way the wait will have been worth it.

I will respectfully disagree on the regrind part of the conversation.

However if he is doing regrinds to pay for materials then just voice it and communicate. Communication goes a long way. His silence while slowly doing regrinds for friends looks like he is just trying to get money other ways than fulfilling prior obligations.

If we saw knives being shipped out there wouldn't be any issues with side work, however when the side work is the only work getting done its irritating to say the least.

I do hear you, and while I do try to give the benefit of the doubt, my first thought on seeing MR's post was of this thread and those waiting!

No offence mate but I really do not think it is cool to mention other peoples names in this thread like they are responsible for this situation.

Guy had an order in with Gareth long before most of the people here, as did I and many other local South Africans.

Other locals are also waiting for knives which have been pre-payed with no delivery. To infer that the South Africans are getting their knives while internationals are waiting is wrong, and to mention a specific name of someone who received a knife is very wrong.

This mess is Gareth's, not the customers.

I know it is very frustrating but lashing out at the innocent makes you the bad guy.

Steven,

I wasn't trying to call Guy out, his knife was just an example of work done and was thrown out as a reference).

However even if he had an order in with Gareth before us, the miura knife design wasn't even thought of when I ordered my warlock. He didn't originally put in an order for a miura and therefore my knife and others knives are waiting while Gareth makes a new design for a customer after the fact. It doesn't matter if he is a local or international customer, it was still a sale after the fact.

Like I said in the other posts, I have nothing against the SA people and they have been nothing less than absolutely gentlemen to me.

Sorry if I offended anyone from SA with these posts. That is NOT my intentions.

Having passed the 2 year mark now and having multiple emails to Gareth unanswered I think I just have to come to terms with the fact that I have been robbed... I don't like it.

About two years here as well. My hopes have now faded since his last flurry of a couple knife deliveries. I would love to own, carry and use either a small Shamwari or even a small Warlock, but seems that may never happen. Worst part is I searched a long time to find his work so fitting to my tastes. There's not another out there that I have found that appeals to me like Gareth work. The mechanism, size, profile, materials and simplicity encompassed what I wanted in a custom EDC. I've waited, hoped, pleaded, and begged for him to make good. I hate to believe it has all been for nothing, but each day passing is further supporting evidence of just that. Such a shame and up to now I am sorely disappointed. He has shown us he can make knives. Why can't he make/complete the dozen or so to clear this list and make good? Doesn't seem insurmountable.
