Gareth bull: Slow Delivery/waitlist thread

I'm so glad to hear deliveries are still coming. I'm hoping this means I'm next or so on Wolf's list; meaning soon! Glimmers of hope amongst the sea of darkness.
If I do get a Gareth a Bull small Shamwari it will be the last knife I buy (bought) for a looooong time. This is my "grail" so to speak. I would love to have one custom....this custom. Gareth if you are still reading...keep up the progress.

thanks for the video.

one thing you didn't touch on that I was particularly interested in was if yours had phosphor bronze washers and Teflon washers or just Teflon? also hows the blade centering? I couldn't tell from the video.

Phospher bronze washers on both sides by the looks of it.

Centering is just about spot on. Just a tiny hair to the left. You have to really analyze it to see it.

Hi Mate, Nice vid. I see you have struggled a bit with the one hand open using your thumb. Forgive me if it is common knowledge already but there are three methods to OHO the front flippers. With Gareths all three work pretty well. Two are using the thumb but vary only by how they are held, the easiest way however and most natural IMO is to use your index finger and reach over the top of the knife and pull the flipper back. It can be a little tricky but once you find that sweet spot of the pivot it just clicks so smoothly. The Warlock looks brilliant, I am plenty jealous!

Thanks for sharing the video...makes my mouth water a bit. Still hoping to hear back from Gareth; with pleasant news. I was torn between the Shamwari and the Warlock. I do like the slim profile of the Warlock, but I went with the Shamwari. Glad you got your knife! I dig the blue.

PS - has anyone heard from Gareth recently? Has he returned any of y'all's e-mails? I do hope he is working through the orders. I just would really like to know my standing as I'm sure many of you would.

nothing but he supposedly has a lot of knives in the works. There's a very tiny glimmer of hope for us to get our knives, but it is there.

I've pleaded to get a response from Gareth via his e-mail over the past few weeks with no luck. I'm as lost as ever with how all this is transpiring. Good news he's made a few deliveries and radio silence to everyone else. Really wish I knew what to expect.....

Another month has almost gone by and Gareth is no where to be seen.

Has anyone here even heard a peep or anything worth noting here?

anyone is SA seen Gareth or heard from him at all?

oh and I'm not sure if I have the whole story yet but I thought I'd throw this out there. It appears that Gareth is still doing regrinds but not finishing his backlog. This was posted on may 31st which means this regrind was most likely done recently. Its pretty crappy if he is neglecting paying customers but will do work for friends on the side.

I just want to have some communication and ultimately get my knife. Communication would be a start...

I heard from him about 6 weeks ago. Gareth claimed he would have my knife ready by the end of April. I have tried to contact him twice since then, but heard nothing. Honestly, at this point I would really like my money back so I can leave this whole experience behind me. It really is a shame, as all of us here would like to own a piece of Gareth's work, but it just doesn't seem like it is going to happen. As I near the two year mark the whole thing has left a bad taste in my mouth.

Agreed entirely.

Money or a knife....will either ever come?

You know if Gareth would communicate what was going on maybe all the people who he owes knives to could actually help him figure out how to meet his commitments. I for one would accept just a standard version small Shamwari over the custom amenities I requested. Is it materials, engineering, time, equipment, personal issues, money....what's the problem?

I am again about at the end of my rope here....
