Gayle Bradley Hard Use

Rusty,

Your G-10 scales come flush to the liners unlike the factory CF scales. Could you please characterize the difference you feel in grasping the handle for use? I prefer the look of your flush scales to the look of the proud liners on the stock knife, and am curious about the ergonomics comparison.

Bill

Thanks guys,
Bill, I cannot tell the difference from the original scales, if anything it's more comfortable as there's no sharp edges from the proud liners, the scales have a light sandblasted finish so still have a bit of grip
and the opened lockbar cutout makes it a lot easier for OCD openers and closers
Here's a pics as compared to a para2 for handle size

Cheers

Off topic here, but there appears to be a braze line on that S90V blade, but it doesn't say CPM154 also. What's the deal?

Its just a cf s90v with a big edge bevel, and black g10 scales so I didn't wreck the cf ones carrying it
Has also been stonewashed which gives it that look I guess
Cheers

Found this quote from Britishblades:

Rather than press your thumb down between the
liners to get purchase on the lock bar, it's much
better to just rub your thumb across it, let the
jimping do its job and catch your thumb to pull the bar over without you having to apply lots of
downward, skin ripping pressure to the lock itself!

Hopefully useful to anyone struggling with the liner lock but not yet decided to modify the access.

i'll buy a customized version that removes all trace of the original handle shape. it just doesn't do it for me. so as not to spoil it for the enthusiasts, it makes me think of something biological.

And BF empties my wallet yet again

My GB should arrive tonight. Too excited to sleep lol :D. The anticipation is killing me. The more I read and see the GB the more it needs to be in my pocket now. I'm actually looking forward to going to work Friday so I can put it through its paces. 18 or so more hours and she'll be mine :)

Also interesting that I had planned on just ordering a SE Pacific Salt for my tackle box and added the GB to my order on impulse. Now I've all but forgotten I even ordered the Salt even though I know that's a great knife as well. I just cannot get the GB out of my head and after it arrives probably won't be able to get it out of my hand either. Already thinking about if I want to force a patina or not. I really like the darker blade in some of the pics but I have plenty of time to decide. It just needs to get here. I'll post some pics after I put it through the paces at work and around the yard/house.

Have a wonderful day BF, I know I will :p

Mine is on its way too. This might settle it for me in the EDC work category - at last.
I love the patina of Rusty351's knife - the mods are really nice too but for now I'll be happy with the cf.

BTW - saw one go on the exchange today for $105.00- a great knife at a cut throat pricing.

I agree completely. Mine should be waiting for me when I get home from work tonight. I feel like a kid on Christmas morning right before I start opening presents :D

This thread needs to come back for a few reasons:

1. It convinced me to pull mine out again and reprofile the edge and MAN does M4 get sharp. I'd forgotten how sharp it gets.

2. This thread makes me all the more excited for the GB2.

3. I've been carrying my GB this afternoon remembering how convinced I still am that it's Spyderco's best knife. (Sorry Leatherman).

4. There is no point number four.

5. I need a place to post pics of my heavily pimped GB when I get it back. :D

Rusty,

How did you get that beautiful patina on your Bradley?
In case Rusty doesn't see your post. I would suggest vinegar warmed up to about 100* F. You might want to remove the blade to do the patina so you get a even finish on the whole blade. Also, wash the blade very well first to remove any oils to achieve a more even finish.

fbc,

Thanks for that tip. I left my blade only, in mustard, for eight hours, then strawberries for four hours, and got barely a slight patina.

I will probably try some vinegar at some point.

From time to time, I see those Bradley's that just have that awesome patina, and I get really jealous. I can't help it, I do........it's one of my many flaws.....lol

A few people were asking me to post a picture of my GB so here it is.

A patina from use around the farm, work etc. Still the same lockup since I got it. A great knife and design IMO.

I could go on but one of the things that has surprised me is the durability of the clip's paint to resist marks. Spyderco did something to these clips that resist scratches significantly but never seen it mentioned or noted.
