Gayle Bradley Hard Use

I really like the GB's overall aesthetic and materials!
But, when I tried out one, the grip seemd too easy to slide up to the blade.
Any problems you guys faced along these lines in hard use?

I have never had an issue but I have a preference to straight handle designs.

A few people were asking me to post a picture of my GB so here it is.

A patina from use around the farm, work etc. Still the same lockup since I got it. A great knife and design IMO.

I could go on but one of the things that has surprised me is the durability of the clip's paint to resist marks. Spyderco did something to these clips that resist scratches significantly but never seen it mentioned or noted.

Not recalling the clip's finish, but I don't think it is a paint. All the Taichung's black clips are like that. Much better than the Japan and US black clips.

Very nice Friar.

Question: I can understand a preference for a thinned out blade, but was there some other reason for the regrind?

Just makes it that much better a slicer. It maintains the integral strength of the blade itself, while presenting a better edge.

That, and I have a stock GB, so I wanted something that was functionally different, too. :D

Friar,

That is one nice lookin' blade.

That is a thing of beauty.

Thanks guys! It turned out great, and I'm looking forward to putting it through its paces. Josh is a great guy to work with.

:D

First-gen GB, Blacked-out, thinned-out, pimped-out GB, and "I'll tear through any material you throw at me and laugh" GB.

Wow Friar I love that middle one!! Do you mind me asking who makes those scales? Definately makes me think I need one as my next knife lol

Welcome to the forums! And thanks! I like it, too. Steve Ketchen did them. He's my go-to guy for custom scales. Does all of his work by hand, and produces some beautiful pieces. Josh a Razor-Edge-Knives did the cerakoting and the re-grind on the bade. He's also an incredible stand-up guy, and he gets all of my knife-modding work now.

And you should get a GB. Everyone needs a GB. The GBs are where it's at.

Thanks for the welcome! I like it here, there is alot of good info floating around these forums. I just picked up a black pm2 that i will soon be looking for some custom scales for and maybe someone to do a regrind on it. Really get it cutting like a lightsaber!!

This bad boy came back from Josh at Razor Edge Knives. Cerakote blade and hardware, and reground to a wicked thinness behind the edge. Looking forward to putting it to work.

That GB is a beauty, i love the look on it. The coating looks like thats how it came stock, minus the covered spydie logo.

I somehow just realized today that these have a state of Texas outline on the bavk, which has finally put me over the edge. Just trying to decide between buying a domino for now and waiting on the GB2 or just getting one of these already. Any guesses when the new one comes out or a price?

No news yet on the release or price of the GB2. You can pick up a GB on the Exchange for just over $100, which is not bad for the steel and handle material. If you don't like it, you seek it pretty easily on the Exchange again.

It's definitely a great knife, but I may somewhat biased. :D
