GEC 2023 #87 English Jack

I like big slipjoints, I am not a fan of the new 87 nail nick layout, my old thumbnails cant get to the main blade, I like the old Queen City Jack with the nicks on opposing sides much better. Unfortunately I probably will not buy any more GEC 87 English Jacks because of that.

There’s a stag 87?! Where at?
I meant generally, not the 87. Sorry for the spoiled excitement. 😅

Nice Queen! As for the nails and nail nicks, try the GEC's tube popper. That thing is a best knife opener of all that I've handled.

There are basically 3 ways to help the situation of the problem of Nail Nick Access on the Pen when it is the front .
1. Carefully file the Pen Blade Kick a little to lower it
2. Put a Piece of Leather under the Main but don't make it's Tip Proud
3. Use a Dremel Tool and make an Easy Open Notch to Lower the Pen even lower .

I make no recommendation on any of the methods because I have never had that problem enough to worry about it . I will have to worry about it when I get one . If I have the problem , I will probably due # 3 . Only time will tell . I too prefer the Pen behind the Main .

Lentuk’s last picture above shows it pretty well that I think it would be easier to remove some of the pen’s blade spine right above its nail nick. That’s an easy thing that anyone can do with some sandpaper and it wouldn‘t take much to expose the whole front 1/3rd of the long pull.

I don't have an issue, so have not thought about it much, however.
4. mrknife mrknife the pen blade.
5. Sell the knife and move on.

Are two more options. 😉

I wonder if the red will have a fair amount of pink near the bolsters after finishing. Let's hope not.

The "Camel" looks a lot like Giraffe to me. When GEC has run Giraffe they usually have multiple colors with cracks in black regardless of the primary color. Multiple colors meaning 2 or 3 distinct colors on the same individual cover. Orange and Black, Green and Blue etc. If I recall, when they run Camel they are often all the same color with white being the only other accent color and cracks are not black. Who knows, just thinking out loud.

Bottom left is a giraffe Esky Zulu. Cracks high lighted in black and that entire run of giraffe was multi color.

Above the orange giraffe is black camel Esky, second from the top left is black camel Fremont Jack. Both those runs were all black.. with different intensity of black.

The red appears that it may possibly be IPB which would have yellow accents.

Oh my, what if you get a pink camel bone?😱

i do look forward to seeing some deletes, this a knife i have wanted in concept since holding the 64 babylon hill in hand ages ago. Wasnt a fan of the lockback location displacing the symmetry. Guess i wont have to mod a 65 bolster anymore.

I mean if you look at where the bone meets each bolster, you can see the bone is shinier and I also see yellow on the lighter ones.

I don't know, they are not finished and that is a guess on my part based on the limited pictures we get.

Absolutely gorgeous! I was able to sneak an order in today for one of those. Can’t wait to get it in hand.
It was one where expectations were neutral. Wasn’t super excited. But when I unrolled the wax paper….. 😍
