GEC 2023 #87 English Jack

I just saw the camel bone is going up for sale at noon. 271 dollars….seems like a lot for carbon steel.

Here's their product photo. I'm curious how long these last. I would love one but not keen on spending that much dough.

I hadn't seen a camel bone I didn't like until this one. That drab brown bone doesn't do it for me.

The wide variation makes this a pretty interesting release. I sure would have paid up for stag on one of these.

Nice, ty, seems like mineral oil is a good go to for a lot of things knife related. I bought some expensive oil when I started trying to revive my grandfathers knives, but seems like mineral oil would have been perhaps a better way to go.
Mineral Oil.

This is the way.

Pardon my ignorance. Can anyone explain to me why the smooth dyed camel bone #87’s are so expensive? I’ve seen some on a site that’s normally pretty affordable for $270. That’s definitely on the high end for GEC. Is it just the labor in dying the bone? I’m really interested in this cover for the 87’s. I’m just trying to gather more info for now and future pricing expectations. Thanks.

There must be something special about them that they haven’t told us. They’re $100 more than the other covers.

Its just the rarity/thirst trap of getting a possibly really unique one they seem to be preying on.
I'm sure there was a fair amount of labor in the jigged cherry, too, but I paid literally half the cost for a Beaver vs what they are asking for a camel, and thats a crazy upcharge, all things considered. I can't recall another time one knife in the same run cost double what another went for from a dealer.
