You've got quite a nice group of GEC barlow P. I'm impressed. The one in the solo pic is really pretty.

I'm going to try to get one of those in Charlie's thread. If they are at all affordable. I ran over my November allowance with those sowbellies.

Nice pics, P. I particularly like the ones with the stamped bolsters.

My Grape Jigged Bone #25 EO goes in my pocket tomorrow.

Thanks! The stamped bolster barlows are my Christmas and (Feb.) birthday gifts. Whew. When the time comes, y'all may need to remind me of what I already got. Heh.

Bigfattyt's pictures of his stag barlow earlier in this thread (and elsewhere within the forum) set the hook pretty deep, and I was thrilled to pick up this one in Boggs' recent generous sale. In fact, this isn't the first time this particular barlow has appeared in this thread-- it can be seen in an Array above. I daresay it's already more pocketworn (and linty) than before. ;)

I, too, am watching the upcoming GEC #15s with interest-- not only the barlows, but the "capped jacks." It sounds like the #25 Barlows and Little Jacks are both getting bigger brothers.

I don't know if the 3.5" #15s will capture my eye (and hands, and pockets) the way these 3" #25s do-- 3 1/4 or 3 3/8" would be more tempting-- but it'll be fun trying to figure that out. :)

Well, I just perused this whole thread, front to back.
Some beautiful knives here in the "Cult of 25s"! You all can be righteously proud of them.
I have owned 4 25s and still own and occasionally use my old school red jigged one with pleasure.
Great thread!!

Since this thread was resurrected, i would like to include some pictures of my 25 that was gifted to me by Jim (Boggs). This thing is radical!

You HAVE been busy! :D
I discovered this, like, exchange area....

No regrets, however. Delight, in fact! I never imagined I'd be able to come near the stag beauties shown above, let alone the ivory #26. Woo, indeed. :)

As I've mentioned recently elsewhere, the jigging and coloration of your remaining #25 intrigues me. Perhaps there's a way to resurrect or re-introduce it...? For others coming in to this thread later, here's the bone in question:

Thanks!

Brett, thanks for bringing yours over too. I still look through this thread often, and hope it stays "alive" for the foreseeable future....

I have a 1 of 50 with buff horn covers. I never warmed up to it...probably trade it away.

Pertinux, I love your barlow collection! Very nice finds

All the beautiful barlow photos in this thread have me really excited about my first GEC#25 that is on it's way to me now! It is a Tidioute with a single clip point blade, bocote wood covers, and no shield or bottom bolster. Looking forward to joining the ranks of GEC #25 owners :)

Your incoming knife sounds like a beaut. Triple-lined bolster, then? Sweet! While I like the looks of the spear point blade on this pattern, it's probably my least favorite in use. Maybe just because mine once bit me? Admittedly, I was momentarily distracted, but: still. Heh. The clip points, on the other hand, are great all-arounders.

I hope you like your knife, and look forward to your pictures. :)

I'll definitely put some photos up in this thread once I get the knife.

I like spear point blades, but I much prefer the slimmer spear points rather than the wide-ened ones. I also prefer the spear point blades on knives like the GEC #68 White Owl, or the new TC Barlow or #15 Boy's Knife rather than on knives like the #72 mini-lockback, #25 barlow, or the new #55 houndstooth.

On the #25, I prefer the looks and perceived functionality of the clip point and the wharncliffe blades more so than the spear points (although I have been eyeballing the GEC #25 with a single 440c spear point blade over at collectorknives).

Agreed, or, at least as far as I can having a #25 spear point (and not the others mentioned) to compare to the #15s and #68. The 25's blade sure looks good, though. Style points!

I was going to mention the wharncliffe-bladed #25s in my prior response, but didn't want to muddy the waters. While perhaps not the all-arounders that the clip versions are, the wharncliffe #25s might be my favorite to grab and use. It's nice to have choices. :)

Well, who hasn't?!

Heh.

Meanwhile, if this one had a different blade configuration, it probably wouldn't still be there.

I really like the shield, and the wood is intriguing.

If nothing else, I hope the shield shows up again, perhaps on a different #25. The only other time I've seen it so far was on a (purple?) Half-Whit.

I got my #25 in the mail yesterday, and I love it. This might be bumping my TC Barlow out of the pocket for a little while. I think the single clip blade #25 is my new favorite pattern! I love how slim it is, and I really like how there seems to be a whole lot of blade for such a small package. The seller I bought it from put a really nice edge on it as well. Scary sharp!

Thanks for the pictures, burnside! I love how well you've captured the depth in the bocote; it looks better here than I've seen it in any dealer pictures, for sure.

I'm glad you like the knife. :)

Burside, that Bocote, and exotic shield look superb on that knife.
Turn it from a gem to a rare Gem! Nice!!
