I never really cared for the 25's, but the more I'm seeing them now, the more I realize that I should have picked one up a long time ago.

I'm eyeballing the Chechen Rosewood (among others)…can someone tell me how this wood ages? Any pics?

BullRome, you're on a roll!

This escalated quickly:

:D

I love the variety of color and blade that you've drawn to yourself. A wonderful array. :)

Thank you for posting your pictures here.

Thanks pertinux! I had some opportunity's and thought I'd take them. These older #25's don't always come up.

I have no firsthand experience with Chechen, but this website is full of cool info on various woods--> Chechen

"Heartwood color is highly varied, with red, orange, and brown contrasted with darker stripes of blackish brown. Color tends to shift to a darker reddish brown with age."

Sorry to introduce different patterns into this thread, but here is two pics of my Che Chen knives. First up is my 79:

And here is my 42:

Hopefully this gives some idea of what this wood is all about.
Thanks,
Brian
Edit: So far, the wood has stayed consistent in appearance over the 9 months or so I have had the 79. My cocobolo knives darken pretty quickly, comparatively.

Great shield on that one!:thumbup::thumbup:

I'm glad the latest releases are Barehead, got a Red Linen and Chechen on the way.

Would like some more drop-point versions though, that blade lies down nicely in the frame......

Just got this guy today. Maratac came today as well. I'm really impressed by both.

Any thoughts on the pull of the new spear #25s (especially the Tidioutes)? I had one of the 2009 ones (sheepsfoot main, pen secondary) that was quite hard to open. A point of reference here might be the new forum knife?

I have the spear micarta . Pull is firm but not as stiff as some of the other 25's I have . Mainly ones from 2008 . I don't have the forum knife as reference

Can't see what you're getting at actually? The current Forum Knife is a long bladed, 2 blade Penknife(single-spring) and CS knives usually have mild/tame pull.No way similar to a 25.
The 25s have firm pulls particularly the early ones in Jack configuration.
But I too am interested to see what the action is like on my eagerly awaited new 25s. I can cope with heavy or firm:D:thumbup:
