GEC 25s - Gots 'em?

The secondary blade: looks like you have one of the rare(r) backside pen secondaries...? Sweet!

I forgot to mention that in my post, yes indeed Sarah, the pen is behind the main. That fact was not lost on me before the purchase, it is my favorite blade setup...at least until you convince GEC to do my WLSTSFCLOO (Weird Little Stubby Thing Sheeps Foot Cap Lifter Osage Orange):D

Whoa... very nice save! Nice photograph of the shield lettering, as well. If I recall, you prefer your blades clean and clear (no etch). Was there anything of the Patriot etch (one of the relative few I appreciate in and of itself) remaining before your own ministrations, or is the above pretty much how the knife came to you?
:D

All I've done is adjust the kicks. Otherwise, it's as received. No etch.

I'm not going out of my way to polish them off, but I don't fret about them rubbing bye-bye during cleaning or use.

I have a Genuine Stag s/n 02 that's pretty much been my constant companion lately. It also required a mild adjustment to it's kick, I was just feeling the tip when pulling it out of my pocket.

Maybe I should give somebody else some pocket love, hmmm, who's it gonna be?

A new favourite immensely influenced by this thread and yourself P. :D

I forgot about this thread. I have a recently acquired #25 that I can post later when I get some time.

Nice one, Tim! The jigging on that bone is incredible. Nice score!

Can't wait to see yours Rick :) I'm addic...enthused by the 25 pattern :D

I missed out on these Elk variants when they were released in 2010. I've been wanting one ever since but I always missed out on the few chances I had to snag one up. Last week I happened to be in the right place at the right time and snatched this one from The Exchange.

It feels good to finally own one.

Nice ones Tim and Rick!

I have been apprehensive about purchasing one because I have big hands and I'm afraid I won't like the feel. They are a great looking knife and I especially like the big bolsters like yours Tim.

Thanks, Mark!

My hands are probably on the small to medium side. I have to admit that as much as I like the #25's I do sometimes feel like I'm going to drop mine when I'm opening or closing it. I've never had a problem once the blade is open and I've never dropped one but I sometimes think I'm going to. I experience the same thing with other knives in the 3 inch or less range. I'm sure the models with two backsprings would be less of a problem in this regard but I don't have one myself to compare.

I wear a size L-XL Mark and even so, I think the girth and width of the two blade makes up for the length of the 25 itself. It feels nice and secure in hand. The long bolsters on the barlows are definitely my favourite as well.

Great looking one Rick, glad you finally got the one you had been hunting for in the right place in time. That feeling is awesome aha

Congrats on your new 25s, Tim and Rick!:thumbup: One of the things that fascinates me about GEC's #25 is that there are so many variations available on the same frame, as illustrated by the two very different versions that you guys picked up.:cool:

I recently got into the #25 Barlows. For some strange reason, I am drawn to the "wierd little stubby things". Anyway, a fellow knife enthusiast suggested I read this thread. I read it all and enjoy the heck out of it! I only have a few, but am always on the hunt for more. I look forward to discussing these WLST as well as seeing pics of other members #25's. I'll post pictures once I figure out how to do it... Lol

Been through this thread more times than I can count. The 25 (wharny main/clip secondary) was my first GEC and is still one of my favorites. I'm hoping to see another run of these so I can snag one with a clip main.

Wasn't GEC mooting a re-run of the 25s later this autumn??

HOPE SO:D:thumbup:

I understand they will be rerunning the single blade spear and sheepsfoot models like so:

Tidioute

Jigged Bone - color to be determined
Wood - type to be determined
Linen Micarta - color to be determined

Northfield

Jigged Bone - color to be determined
Wood - type to be determined
Linen Micarta - color to be determined

#25 Spear Single Blade NOT Easy Open
Tidioute

Jigged Bone - color to be determined
Wood - type to be determined
Linen Micarta - color to be determined

It is not known if they will have end-caps or not...

You are correct Paul, and I'm really looking forward to the run.

I'd also like to see something along these lines:
