GEC 25s - Gots 'em?

I really enjoy these Acorns! Also, looking for the 3rd smooth bone GEC #25 if anyone has any leads. Thanks! It is hard to not love the WSLT's...

BullRome,
In fact these # 25 Acorn are spectacular.

Thanks gents:thumbup:

I was really lucky with this one as I won it here on a GAW some years back. Being in Europe, it's not always easy to get hold of some patterns and this is a good point in case. Despite its 'scarcity' I never wanted to do anything else but use the knife regularly, don't regret that at all. As I've said before, that blade really suits and works well with this frame especially thick flared stag (it's thin at the bolster but wide at the end of the handle). GEC will release another run of Drops surely? They'd sell out no question and I'd want another:D:cool:

Regards, Will

Nice acorns and drop point! I guess both were built before I got in into GEC in late 2013..

Took this picture of Autumn Leaves on the weekend.

Oh, wow, AusLoX! That Bocote (?) wood is amazing. That swirl pattern on the pile side is mesmerizing.

Absolutely! I was surprised to see that the bocote was the cheapest of the three when these first came out. I think it's the best looking by far. Although the bone feels nice in hand on these 25s. Not to mention the blade and long pull look fantastic on the top 2.

The Bocote 25's also had thicker & more rounded scales than their counterparts. In addition, there is a slight taper from front to back so that the bottom of the handles are tihicker than the top near the bolster. Markedly different from the flat-sided rosewood and the jigged bone handled 25's.

Interestingly, I haven't found that to be the case, they are hand made afterall....

...aside from the obvious squared ends of the jigged bone, sawcut bone and polished stag - all of my jacks have the same taper from bolster to bare end and the barlows a similar thickness at the bare end pin. The linen micarta, smooth yellow bone, A.blackwood and snake wood all have more rounded handles than my bocote in varying degrees. However, I think that due to the clear grain figuring of the bocote there is more of an appearance of depth than the others.

It is also of note that (in my collection at any rate) the 2015 runs were slimmer than previous years with the exception of the all steel 2013 run which appeared about the same.

The crazy thing about it Paul is that I was looking for a different one and both times these popped up. And, then I read that you've never been been able to score one. It really did make me hesitant to post them, but......

Haha, don't worry - a bit of transatlantic dealing last week and I have a droppoint rosewood on its way to my American mailbox :)

Good point. They are all handmade and I only had one example to base that statement. I recently lost my Bocote 25. I should have taken some comparison pictures earlier.

I did give a Bocote 25 to my brother-in-law last year. Maybe I'll be able to notice the taper when I next see his.

I received an Ebony Tidioute 25 today and it is similarly shaped to the Bocote 25 I recently lost. This 2015 Ebony 25 is definitely more rounded on the sides with thicker scales than my 2015 Rosewood 25. I think you can see it in these pictures. Both knives sit on the flat surface, but the Ebony knife has thicker sides so it sits higher behind the Rosewood version.

You can also see the wood taper from the larger end of the knife towards the bolster.
