GEC #35 Churchill Thread

I think if GEC were to offer this pattern in a greater variety of covers in the future, I could see this knife becoming quite popular. So many folks have been on the fence and I think it really has to do with the fact that the cover and shield options were uninteresting, for the most part, this time around. If they were to do another run of these in some good jigged and/or smooth bone with some great shields, I think the demand would be a lot greater.

Extremely happy with this knife and it certainly has become an instant favorite. GEC did an outstanding job, in my opinion. I really look forward to seeing what they do in the future with this frame.

You may be right Dylan about covers and popularity. I've enjoyed the pattern since the 2016 Forum knife came out but held up buying one of these until the red jigged bone SFO was shown... then I caved. Now I'm having a tough time waiting. As much as I like the ebony and yellow rose, I'm hoping the last of 'em will be worth the wait and that someday, this pattern will be made as a three blade scout and/or a split spring whittler.

A scout on the 35 frame is my #1 wish for GEC. I think it would be an instant classic.

I'd agree with the lack of cover variety. I was on the fence about this one because nice jigged bone is what makes or breaks my choice in buying a new knife, but the #35 frame is so pleasing and the blade combo so utilitarian that I just had to have one.
This is also the best sheepsfoot I've had on any knife; so thin and well ground its practically a scalpel.

I have to agree 100% regarding better shields and cover materials.

It would be awesome if they made a scout, and I'd almost certainly get one, but what excites me most about the Churchill is the blade/slimness ratio. This has decent sized examples of my two favorite blades in a thin knife....can't beat that! I don't particularly want anything else in my knife, so no need to make it fatter.

I REALLY hope my yellow rose shows up tomorrow. Been waiting months for this!

I like that Green! But Hummingbird?? A trifle bright coloured them and petite for what is a sturdy knife:D I do think it could look like some intriguing Old School Cell and don't dislike the cloud/keyhole/Escutcheon shield as it's been on other acrylics before to tidy effect. I rather fear sunk-pins on recent acrylics..this I don't like on a knife:eek:

All theoretical for me though as I've used up my ration of knife money already...paid the import-tax online for the Cougar Claw and the wait goes on...not sent from Helsinki yet despite paying yesterday..MIGHT get it Monday but then it will be Wednesday (we now only have post deliveries 3 days a week, hooray for digi ) by that time Customs have had it a fortnight (two weeks) grrhhh! I could claw something myself:D

I like the hummingbird, and think it will make a great edc. Got a green banana coming too. This will be a very pocketable knife, IMO.

So how does one acquire one of these banana Churchills? Are they going to be available at any of the dealers or are they only going to the folks who placed a pre-order? Thanks for any insight you can provide.

The federal (or badge) shield is a classic for an equal end. I like the curved NORTHFIELD banner shield they used on the congress knives a few years back. It would look good on the Churchill.

That would’ve been my choice for the Churchill. Or a smaller version of the big gimp on Charlie’s 98 camp knife.

The shield not withstanding, I just caved . . . bought a cougar clawed #35 with some nice toasted bits to the bone.

I'm an absolute chump for burnt bone or stag.
The clawed bone is unique, a welcome contrast to the usual jigging. Feels really nice too, the smooth shallow channels make it a nice worry stone. It think this one is going to age quite nicely as the lighter portion of the bone darken with time
