GEC #35 Churchill Thread

My Yellow Rose has been "Delivered, In/At Mailbox" but I'm not there to get it. Will be soon though.

I will admit that I don't hate it. But I have a "little collector me" on one shoulder telling me to try to get one due to the first banana shield and possible limited production - and a "little practical me" on the other shoulder reminding me that I already ordered the yellow rose, which I probably won't use, so if I'm going to pay up for another one, it should be a user.

OK, I think I have a new favorite GEC pattern. These things are super sweet.

The walk & talk on both blades on my new arrival is very good. Smooth opening. Both blades snap open and closed firmly and both pulls are about a 5.

The two blade shapes that I like and use the most, all in a perfectly sized and shaped frame. I'm very pleased.

It’s a pattern that’s not being received with much fanfare, but I’m right there with you, the construction, size, blade shapes... it’s pretty much perfect.

This is another example of "different strokes for different folks." I was looking forward to seeing the finished product on these green acrylics, but now that I see it has the cloud shield, I'm officially out. :D
I feel ya. I actually like the acrylic, but the cloud shield just seems off with it. I guess GEC can't ever please everyone at the same time on all knives, so it's good we get so many options...I suppose ;)

Well said. This pattern is a winner. I'll probably end up with several examples before I'm through.

Very nice Rick! Looks like most of these turned out a nice shade of yellow too, and yours is a great specimen!

I also can't agree more regarding the blades and slimness of the knife...I can't wait to get mine to experience in person.

Thanks guys. The credit goes to GEC I'm just the messenger. Sorry Colin, I'm glad my boys have families of their own. In fact my oldest grand daughter turns 13 today. This is my time, hahaha.

Just got my new Yellow Rose. It is unique. About as perfect as you can get. Better quality finish than I have seen in a folder.
The big reason I ordered it was to own a Yellow Rose GEC. I already have a #77 Sunbrite which has a paler, more soft yellow, which I prefer. But the Rose has the edge for quality.
These Churchills are so perfect (QC) that it can’t help to make the company more popular.

Count me in on your side, I love this pattern. I loved the 35 HJ last year and this year it has 2 better blades.

That's a very good point and it reminds me that the members of this forum designed the frame when choosing options for the forum knife.

I have last years HJ #10 with the awl. Beautiful knife. And I got the Yellow Rose #35 Yesterday. I measured the thicknesses with a caliper. The HJ #10 measures 15/32 inches and the Yellow Rose is a hairline over 1/2 inches.
My caliper is an antique carpenters rule, but still pretty accurate. The difference in thickness is about 1/32 of an inch. Can’t feel much difference in the weight.
I am buying 4 of the new #35 run as I believe them to be the best quality knives GEC has ever put out.

Oooooh I like it.

The combination of a clip point and sheepfoot is pretty near perfect for utilitarianism. I just haven't fallen in like with the #35, though the BladeForums knife I saw at the Rendezvous was nice. I might have to get one of these just for the cool shield though. And I don't have a yellow knife.
