GEC #35 Churchill Thread

The Hummingbird Acrylic are silky smooth. GEC really has fine tuned this pattern....

I popped the tube on my new stag Churchill earlier today, yesterday now, I guess, haha, and I just can't seem to put this thing down.

Just outstanding stag! And the fit and finish is really spot on as well. Still some great examples out there and this definitely the kind of pattern a collector/user might just want to have an "extra" of. Really digging the single spring construction.

I am just kicking myself for passing on all those TK Cubans that were available when I first got into GECs. Thank goodness there are, I hope, enough of the Tidioute Churchills around that I can eventually snag a couple of those as well.

I've been carrying Barlows since the mid 1950s, then discovered stockmans somewhere around 1970. They've always been my favorites, but this Churchill is quickly growing on me. It's big enough for serious everyday use, but not too big. I like multiple blades & I've found that the clip/sheepsfoot combination works best for me. I may have just found my new favorite pattern.

And I may need one in stag now.:)

No one has a Green Banana Bone in-hand yet? I have one en route and I'm counting the days!!

I am really contemplating getting a second Churchill, I've been enjoying the heck out of mine since I got it. But with the 78s coming up, the Lion Steel Barlows in progress, the 43s shortly after, and on top of all that, I am contemplating picking up an 81, I am committing a fair amount of money to warrant a second one...

Maybe when all the dust settles and there ends up still being some on the shelves, I might look into it.

Quit trying to kid yourself. The dust ain't gonna settle. If you're like me, there's a new "must buy" coming up almost weekly. :)

I try not to repeat patterns to much, but for a pattern I really love, I give myself the excuse of getting one Tidioute and one Northfield.

Yeah... I was trying to convince myself with my prior verbiage, it's not working out too well for me. This forum has done relative wonders for my collection, just not my bank account. I don't really see that ending any time soon... :D

That is actually something I have been contemplating as well. I was drawn to the 78 immediately, so I have a Tidioute and a Northfield reserved. Same with the upcoming 43s, I am not altogether certain how I will like that particular pattern, but I like large knives and they are called "Oregon"! That's my state! Worst case, if I don't like them, they will make great gifts or I can sell them at a later time.

The problem with the Northfield versions of the Churchill, there weren't any covers that really appealed to me. Yellow isn't my color, I am obnoxiously picky when it comes to Stag, and acrylic hasn't excited me all that much yet. So, in a sense, I am ok waiting. Maybe if GEC decides to do a run of French Kates after the 43s, I can justify scooping up another Churchill if there are any left. :D

Otherwise, I am surely doomed...

Does anyone know if there is going to be a Northfield Jigged Bone variant for this configuration?
I like the AAPK knife well enough, but not crazy about that etch.

Unfortunately, no. At least, not from this run. I think that ended up being the biggest source of disappointment for folks who might otherwise have been interested in the pattern. The AAPK knife is it for the jigged bone options until they decide to do another run of 35s in the future.

Lol, :)
Dylan, now I'm hoping for French Kates... for the very same reason. o_O

Thanks, I was afraid of that. I guess maybe they will make more of these right after they make some more White Owls? It's only been what, 6 years?

You need a stag TK instead of that 54. Beautiful set. One of my favorite set ups that GEC does, regardless of length/girth.

Yes, I finally found one.
Outstanding. Yours has much better stag than the old loaner does. Your OP said 54, that through me off for a minute since the TK is a 53. There really is no difference between the two other than the 54 has halfstops and the 53 has rounded tangs, which I prefer. Now, get them in pocket and use those bad boys!
