GEC #470123 Viper

They have made a few same runs of the 71 at least, so they do repeat themselves occasionally.

From a collector's point of view ideally we want all models to be one-offs

Stop. They'd be just as profitable if they switched to rosewood and doo doo brown jigged bone. Its a fairly lame and lack-luster choice they went with. Its not even like it was some earlier run handle materials; they just rinsed-repeat.
Oh no, what a tragedy! Let's weep and moan y'all... 🤪

Maybe Bill wasn't happy with the 2020 version and wanted a redo? I think these look sharp (pun intended). The jigging is classy. Certainly not lack luster at all. With 5 cover options there should be something for everyone to enjoy in this run.

I’m thrilled with the choices, the ebony is different than 2020 and a real winner IMO

Im reasonably certain some of you would blindly praise them for literally anything they did.

You guys know you don’t have to right?

“Oh wow Bill Howard punched grandma in the face he’s so brave.“

If they make something I don't care for I don't buy it. I don't cry about it, just don't buy it. Pretty simple.

You know you don’t have to buy it right?

Indeed, just ask the dealers who had #05s sitting on their shelves for months. 🤷

I buy plenty of things from GEC. I like a lot of it.

This is a forum for discussion. Pretending everything is perfect would be absolutely dismal. I promise you.
You seem very hurt by this particular knife though. Noone said that you had to like it.

It's not the same knife from 2020, it is very similar but not the same (and no I'm not wrong).

I'm not being an apologist for Bill Howard, simply in the vain of knife discussion offering up a theory as to why they made the same/similar knife. I have no idea and neither do you.

It just didn't hurt my feels when they did.

Jim if I’ve learned anything in the last couple of years it’s that you’re definitely a Bill Howard apologist.

I never planned on buying one of these, I’m just saying they certainly could have, and given their reputation, should have been more creative here.

It’s gonna be ok. I’m sure this will hurt some feelings and some mod may delete it.

I for one am glad to see them doing occasional repeats, so I can sit a few out.

But I’m also glad that people who weren’t around or able to get Vipers then, can do so now. I see a lot of happy people, and I like that.

I have zero interest in these, but I’m not going to knock them for doing it. At the end of the day, it’s a business and there are people making these knives that need to feed their families. Vipers certainly help do that.
