I had my doubts about this variant but not any longer. The color is pleasing and subtle. There are always scores of complaints about etched blades, but, in my experience, they are not very visible in real life. They show up much more in photos than they do in hand. Plus, I think this etch is great as is the extra large shield. All in all, I am glad I bought one of these. Fit and finish/action are all perfect as usual. The tube art is incredibly well done including a viper image and reference to the “GEC Bone Works.” The pin is wonderful.

Now I could get interested in that Elderberry  Something to replace the Osage Orange I gave away. Of course, I console myself - the shield is so so (better with a Banner or Hotdog...) and they'll all sell out while I'm sleeping..but still that Swayback in hand plus the look & colouro_O

Everyone is trying to chase down a smooth white bone SFO meanwhile GEC just copy pasted the 2020 run again for some lazy reason. You can say they didn't, youd be wrong.

I believe that you are correct. The reason is simple imho. Just ask Nike why they keep making their model 11 Jordans. I don’t think it has anything to do with being lazy. 😉

They’ve made a name as a traditional knife maker that doesn’t make the same knife again.

They just did. Might not be the first time. Maybe won’t be the last.

Before someone says “who said that”, I guarantee you would be one of the people who said that before I posted this.

Last time I checked GEC is a business and I guarantee they want to be profitable. 😀

Stop. They'd be just as profitable if they switched to rosewood and doo doo brown jigged bone. Its a fairly lame and lack-luster choice they went with. Its not even like it was some earlier run handle materials; they just rinsed-repeat.

Once again you are correct. It my be lame but it keeps the lights on and I’m good with that. Hopefully they will be a bit more creative in the future. 😀

The #47 is a popular pattern, I'd think that folks would feel fortunate that another run of Vipers are being released seemingly so soon and in some desirable covers.

I got a couple from the last run that I am pleased with so I am not hard pressed to seek out any this go around (though I wouldn't thumb my nose at one in that sweet Ebony if the opportunity presented itself, or in that dark purple jigged bone, for that matter).
