GEC 73. The perfect pocket knife?

I'm probably in the minority, but I prefer the two blade version. I feel naked with just one blade. The 73 jack I have fills the hand nicely yet still isn't too much of a brick in the pocket.

I am not sure that a 73 is the Perfect Knife , but it will do until one I like better comes along .

Harry
I think I could "make do" with those two Harry:cool::cool:

Norcaldude Norcaldude would love to get my hands on one of those autos - just to use around the house obviously:)

I am not sure if it is the perfect pocket knife but it is a contender. I would say it is probably one of my two favorite Great Eastern patterns along with the 74. Here are my two, old pic. I would prefer to carry the single blade but wouldn't take the risk of carrying a lock knife in the UK so I just carry the two blade.

I really wish GEC would do another run of 73s. A large run please so I have the chance to buy one. I suspect it would be very popular.

Can the 73 be easily pinched open ?
If not, any other similar GEC pattern or blade offering that would allow you to pinch it open or use a gloved hand to deploy ?

Not mine. The cut swedge reduces the purchase area too much. It's the only single blade slipjoint I own that I can't pinch open. That's quite a feat considering that I can pinch open other, more strongly sprung knives such as recently made Wright lambfoots.

If you want a drop point blade that you can pinch open, find one with a drawn swedge.

My #73 liner lock isn't really pinchable (certainly not with gloves). The #74 I posted next to it earlier on this page (I’ll quote it here, too) is pinchable thanks to its high clip point.

Other than that, I’d say that the #71 Bull Nose is similar in size and shape (but not style) and is also pinchable.

Thank you
For smaller knives I do not mind it too much only been able to use the nail nick, after all I' am here because I really like traditional slipjoints :)

For the larger ones is a big plus in practical terms to have a "pinchable" blade for me.
The 74 with a clip looks very nice

Gracias amigos :)
