GEC 73. The perfect pocket knife?

Some educational reading for you.

This jack has a cut swedge.

This HJ, a drawn swedge.

The problem with the Northfield #73 is that the nail nick is located within the swedge. Not conducive to pinching a blade open.

The frustrating thing with more than one blade is when you hold it, even when the handle looks pretty and ergonomic, the closed blade gives you a horrible grip.

This knife carries the name Schrade and was labeled Fire & Ice but was made as an SFO by GEC in 2007 and is the exact same thing as a GEC #73 two blade version.

The two blade versions are heavy knives and I think that is one reason some people are put off by them. Just cinch your belt up a notch when you carry one.

The #72 long pull clip blade is my favorite of all GEC blades, combining practicality and beauty in this lockback red stag version.

But, the #73 drop point comes very close, and takes the prize if you prefer a slipjoint or linerlock.
