GEC #77 Medium Barlow Impressions

So what is this Oily Creek Bone that I got notification for? I'm not in, but I'm always curious to see what the new 77's are going to look like.

What he said, plus northfield, capped, lined bolster, brass liner/pins, #773115... I will post up some pics when it arrives :)

Pics below from gunstockjackknives.com

Edit: just realized I replied to a question that's not related to this thread. Will post pics in the 77 frame thread when it comes. Sorry for the confusion - not a barlow.

a single blade 77! wait a tick 772215, modded?

Every so often GEC does a small run of a parts knife. They'll end up with a surplus of parts for a particular pattern. The knife pictured above is among the latest parts knife run of which 19 were made. They were distributed among retailers. I believe each retailer got three knives.

Very happy to add this to my Barlow collection. I had a stag clip/Wharnie from the first run that didn't win me over; too thick and I did not love the paired-up nail nicks. However, I love a long-pull spear, and the coping on the pile-side is a great touch. Secondary blades are always better behind the main if it's a long-pull, at least for me. I also really enjoy the micarta; it's got a lot of texture and is very different from any cover I currently have with the TC's. A cool knife, for sure!

That's a beauty Gus:thumbup::cool:

Here is my Rust Red Sheepsfoot Barlow. Took the leap and dyed it because I love the TC rust red.
It turned out great!, perfect rusty red, pics don't do it justice.

:love-struck: Drool! I want one soo bad

Keep your eyes peeled on the Exchange here, the 77 Barlow is a beauty. It truly is my Grail knife. It's not left my pocket since the day it arrived at my PO Box near the end of September. Everything about it is perfection - the size, blade combo, scales, iron bolsters, etc...

That's a good looking A5 you have there too!

Arizonaranchman that red bone coloring is beautiful!!!, a lot lighter than most of the spearpoint 77's from the last run.
