GEC #77 Medium Barlow Impressions

I have a 77 SF put up just to look at, it's so nice. But these spears are tempting me to post a trade. For today, I stowed my stag SF in the safe and matched my user sawcut bone SF to my bright blue dungarees. Have not regretted taking a sanding drum to it one bit.

The Precious... Just finished dicing up the turkey sausage for tonight's dinner. Earlier it opened the mail and helped with lunch also. This is truly The One

Both look good - you should post a pick with both of them.

Lol, the sheepfoot 77 hasn't seen any action since this one arrived - difficult to fathom but it's true! This Spear 77 is perfection :D

Because I wasn't satisfied of my #77's smooth bone scale (uneven color), and after having sanded them for their slippery, today I treat them with permanganate (after having read many threads here on BF): thanks to this big source of tips, now I'm very happy!!! Here the comparison before-after:

stef142 A grand job indeed, looks like it works more evenly than my strong tea dye (that works well on stag though )

Nice to see roasted Chestnuts too I like Chestnuts in everything including a kind of confiture I get from France.:D

Regards, Will

Willopower, I've never used tea but the permanganate is really simple and effective! Just the time that it is absorbed by bone and you can see the result. Then is possible to do it again and choose which area has to be darker. You can't decide the color indeed!!

After a long wait my love finally gifted me this 2 blade white bone 77. It's such a perfect knife and she even had it laser etched with a loving reminder. Feeling like quite the lucky man today.

I will be carrying this one every day and reveling in the patina and coloring of the bone as it ages with use.

What a great gift! The etch knocks it over the top. Good looking knife, too.
