GEC #77 Medium Barlow Impressions

Hey Jamie, I think the answer would be yes, based on all the pics from GEC that show the buttons in almost every shot.

Ya'll are about a manipulative bunch :D I'm sure it was the same buttons in every picture, as they generally put one in about every 4-5 tubes. But I'll see if they can make some more.

I don't want to get ahead of myself, this being only the second run and all, but I wonder how much noise we have to make to get a caplifter on a NF Barlow!?!?!?! :D

BF cracks me up... First of all there is dissension when several of the family chime in that a wharncliffe is not a traditional barlow blade - then there is an uprising for a bottle opener  But I don't see any sense in limiting what we can do by anything other than demand.

I would love to see at least one run of the Northfield 77 Barlows be released with steel bolsters - any chance of that happening?:confused::)

I personally am not a fan of steel everything, but I learned a long time ago that I don't need to start forcing my preferences on anyone. Like "meat" pitching on Bull Durham - "Don't think meat, just pitch". I'm sure when this batch clears I'll be back looking for advice on the next one.

You are not alone. IMO every knife made should be all steel construction ;)

It is my opinion that the steel bolstered, or, if one prefers, iron bolstered Barlows, age a little nicer than the NS models.

I will bring it up again, when advice is asked for by the OP. ;):)

Getting anxious to see my two NF sheeps foot Barlows.:D

Historically were barlows made with NS bolsters as well as steel or where they all pretty much steel? I too would prefer if they were steel I think, but they are turning out nice either way. Looking forward to seeing some completed sheepsfoot ones soon!

Hello All,
First post on these forums but I have been reading a lot.
Bought a pioneer bone from the first run love it
I have two on order Sheepsfoot and Wharncliff in African Blackwood, wish I had ordered a clip so I would have the set.
As far as iron bolsters go count me in.
I can hardly wait for these to show up in my mail box.

Looks like the blackwood clips are done:

These single clips look really great, I only wish I had known about them soon enough to get one.

Thanks for the response Mike! For me, I ain't buying buttons, just knives. :D

This new run is looking very good! The Blackwood will be a hot item. I am looking forward to seeing the completed stag knives. The in production stag photos look very promising.

Thanks to Mike and the team for doing another run. Exciting time for collecting...even though I am not a "collector". :D

That red bone is looking TASTY!

I have one of those coming in sheepsfoot. I think that bone will really age nicely over time!

Can't wait to see the tan now!
