GEC #77 Medium Barlow Impressions

Out of curiosity, has anyone ever dyed camel bone on their own to alter the color? This is probably not as common on a traditional, collectable knife as it is on other folders. But if someone was so inclined, it would make the Elderberry more appealing (possibly).

I have done a fair amount of dyeing - yes you can strip color out, you buy a bottle of hydrogen peroxide and place the knife in it and wait. The bone will become white and chalky. Use RIT dye to dye the white bone any color you choose. There is a high risk you will get small pepper spots on the exposed metal during the dye process.

tracking says Monday delivery date. First time in a while that I'm looking forward to a Monday :D

Nice. Mine have an expected to ship on Monday date. I was so busy working and a baby with an ear infection, I barely made the cutoff to pay for mine. The 48 hours was close to expiring.

Should have bought it and sold to one of BF members that wanted one...:( Good on you though to not buy it and flip it for a ridiculous price.:)
I did wind up buying one with the hope of trading for one with Ironwood or Micarta covers.

Paid for my Elderberry, hopfully I get a dark one. Really hoping I can get a ironwood or saw cut from the exchange. Really looking forward to my first two bladed 77 barlow.

Super lucky, my iron wood standby converted. I entered all four drawings but standby was all I got. Very fortunate it worked out. Would have been very bummed to miss out on this one. Chacks all my boxes.
Ironwood is the one I wanted...and my standby turned into an EDC Ironwood! Big fan of the blade combination.

I'm covered. Had enough people that would rather have had the micarta in the first place. They didn't short me but about 6, but there were 14 EDC's. Which left me 10 short to cover the guaranteed reserves before those that kindly changed. Some of the EDC's were small issues and will be offered to the standby's at a reduced price once everything has shaken out.
How small are the issues? I just paid for my stand by. I’m just happy to get one, EDC or not.

Rather surprised to find this in my mailbox this morning....

Such a fine knife, more in depth notes later, but a teaser shot for now
