GEC #77 Medium Barlow Impressions

The old red saw cut are certainly my favorite so far of what has been posted. The African blackwood knives are lookers also and not to far behind the red saw cut in the looks department for me. They all look excellent and we are lucky to have a dealer who shares his passion by bringing these projects into reality.

I agree. That red sawcut looks superb!

A year or so ago, I experienced the frustration of not being able to get my hands on the other ever popular barlows. Vigilance, determination, lots of reading and searching, and of course, the many members who share information and knowledge here finally paid off in spades.

I want to say a HUGE thank you to Mike for making these knives a reality. Yes, we are extremely lucky to have a dealer here who is just as passionate about these knives as the rest of us. It shows in the lengths he went to in order to keep a level playing field for all of us who wanted one.... and who did a little research. :)

The two blade models were outstanding, but I think Mike really hit the nail on the head with this new run. Looks like there's a flavor for just about everyone.

He did a nice selection, but I really wanted a Spear-Old Red Sawcut. Settled for a Clip-Old Red Sawcut.

Waiting, waiting, still waiting.

The biggest part should be here tomorrow; but we are still short about 3 dozen sheep sawcuts (both flavors). Hopefully those will get out of PA early next week. Will start getting some shipments ready to go out after the long weekend.

A very very heartfelt thank you to you Mike! I have strangely enjoyed the wait for my two (a black wood and old tan sawcut sheepsfoot) more than you can imagine. I need to work on my ability to be patient and delay gratification; between my 7 year old daughter and this SFO, I think I have made some significant progress on both fronts.
Again, thank you for all your efforts to bring all of us truly wonderful knives.

Brian

I've not been a fan of GEC's wont to put the nail nick inside the swedge, so when I finally saw the sheepfoot with that beautiful long pull behind the swedge I could no longer resist. I was fortunate enough to get one of the last ones Mike had up in smooth autumn gold bone. Can't wait!

....so is it too early to start thinking about the NEXT run??? :D:cool::rolleyes:

I think Mike deserves a nice vacation after putting together this 2nd run, buuuuuut if he's ready to start on the 3rd…let me know when to send payment :D

I got the same thing. It means that a label has been created for your knife(knives) and will ship after the long weekend.

Dagnabbit! I haven't gotten anything yet...... But.... apparently GEC ran out of NS liners for the red sawcut sheepfoot and there are around 12 that will have brass liners instead. I answered the email pretty quick to accept that. Haven't heard back yet, but I'm hoping I get that short run! I don't mind waiting another week or so. You fellas here better post some pics when you get yours!

Well you two guys are the first to receive notice that your knives have shipped! At least the first post here.

Draggat...I wouldn't mind brass liners on the Blackwoods or the Reds. These will be one of those "rare GEC's".

As far as posting pictures...I'm actually going to be out of town next Thursday-Sunday, so I'm guessing that I'll be posting pictures with the rest of you.

According to the email I received, it's only the red sheepfoot. I'm right there with ya buddy!

Well, shipping should be quick for me. So if I get it quick I will try to post some pics. I'm real excited, this is my first sfo (clip/stag)

Wish I had signed up for one with stag but happy to get what I have coming. My birthday is Wednesday but sounds like I will have to wait a few days to get them. oh well.

Has anyone who asked to add to their pre-order through the email system been contacted to do so?

That's awesome. I love little surprise variations like that (makes collecting even more fun). Good luck!
