GEC #77 Medium Barlow Impressions

I've got 4 Yankee Barlows coming my way...and to think that not one will be an Old Red

Talk about the knives, not the sales process. This is supposed to be a non-commercial forum. Thanks.

These reds came out beautiful. I don't consider myself an expert on GEC's color naming process, so I ordered the ones that seemed to be a safe bet. I think that all the ones we've seen thus far are awesome pieces.

I agree, they all look incredible but I just wanted the simple but beautiful old tan saw cut with clip blade because it reminded me of a knife my gramps used to own. An old Camillus saw cut, from the 1950s.

I preordered two. The two I thought I wanted the most. Now I'll more than likely try to trade one for a red clip. :foot:

Loving the looks of these, Mike you did a fantastic job on design. The only suggestion I have would be eliminating the swedge on the long pull clip and sheepfoot. They are a home run and I'm going to be camping out by the mail box as soon as these beauties ship out (hopefully soon)

These pics are driving me crazy! Can't wait to get my sheepfoot in African Blackwood! This could be a candidate for taking the #1 spot in RFP!

What are you insinuating with this post?? Because some of us have bought more than one we are flipping? I just like knives and having multiples of my favorite patterns with different scale options. If anything I'm a hoarder who occasionally sells a knife for what I paid plus shipping and fee's. Not that I need to explain myself to you or anybody else but your comment is a little petty and lumping collectors and flippers into one category which isn't right.
There are no insinuations or predictions in my post, I did not reply to anyone's post and I didn't mean to offend anyone. Some members seem to have bought four or five of this run of barlows. It'll be interesting to see whether or not some of those appear for sale in the near future - for a considerlble profit.
What others do with their knives is none of my business. I have a sizable collection and I've never sold a knife that I've bought, although I've given many away. I merely commented on a current and lamentable, in my opinion, trend.
Are you a being overly sensitive just because you've recently sold a couple of barlows on the exchange for a bit more than your cost plus shipping and fees ?

Frankly, the anticipation is all over for me personally now. I've been so busy lately that when it shows up in the mail I'll be nothing but surprised.

Cannot wait ordered two clips a stag and blackwood. Saw the redbone and wish I ordered one. I always buy spares just in case I lose one. Own multiple model SAKs and GEC. I am sure I suffer some issue lol. Wife thinks so.

Right you are AL! Fill in the blank, shoes, dolls, clothes or anything she collects. Knives, now that's something to collect right there!

Lmao. In a world where I carried a modern folder of some sort for the past 20 years, I am thoroughly admitting that I am new to the traditional knife world. When I read the "flippers are out in force," I actually thought holy cow, there are some #77 Barlows that are flippers!?! :D

Ok. Back on topic, everyone. Glad to have the chance to add this awesome knife to my small, but multiplying traditional arsenal.

I ordered 2 Sheepsfoot in African Blackwood and Old Tan Sawcut, can't wait, but, the Red Saw cut bone is an absolute beaut.

Aside from not discussing the sales process. Do not discuss each other.

1) Post about Traditional Knives.
2) Use family-friendly language.
3) Post friendly.

The old red saw cut are certainly my favorite so far of what has been posted. The African blackwood knives are lookers also and not to far behind the red saw cut in the looks department for me. They all look excellent and we are lucky to have a dealer who shares his passion by bringing these projects into reality.

It looks like the #77s have shipped from GEC. From their FaceBook page:

We finished up and shipped the remaining #77 Barlows this week. Make sure to keep an eye on Collectorknives.net for availablity. Also, stay tuned for pics of the newest run of Northwoods Fremont Jacks coming up next.
