GEC #77 Medium Barlow Impressions

Brought down the kick on my blackwood sheepsfoot a bit. The knife rides better in pocket. Its still pretty easy to open with the nick and even pinchable if the blades isnt too oily, but I'm thinking I may add an easy open notch on the dremel. Am I crazy? I've done it before on knives of mine with good results, but what do y'all think?
I think that would look awesome! I would go for it!

This pair arrived today, I'm impressed:thumbup:

What a fantastic pair of knives there Paul! Nice job!

I must say you guys have been quite successful in making those of us that missed out..... again.... very envious. But I've enjoyed every single one
of the pics of these great blades.:)

I was wondering who would be the first to EO the 77 Barlow, I think this will be the first of many.

I actually dropped the tip a little lower still today. I'm thinking I may just go full tilt and try and get the pull parallel with the handle when closed, but that's a big step, so probably not.

Looking good! I like the thought of burying the blade as much as I can. Just have to remember when you close the knife it doesn't just stop it travels a tad further than where it rests.

Yeah, I know, but there's plenty of room. You can press the blade down in the closed position before filing to make sure nothing is bottoming out.

I guess the other thing to watch out for is that the part of the blade nearest the kick and the tip dont hit the back spring. The kick didn't seem all that big to begin with.

Yea, I was just mentioning it so that someone doesn't push the blade down to spring and go that far. I found out about the over travel the hard way. At least it wasn't on an expensive knife.

Lemmy,

Very cool!! I like it!

I know what I'll be doing later this week. :D

I like it! I like it a lot!

Nice work, Lemmy. That was quick!

Congrats on the first posted Modified Production NF #77 Barlow. Looks very interesting

Thanks guys. Well I was deliberating and working out where the notch should go, still not sure if i was gonna do it, and then absent-mindedly I started making a mark where the notch should start with a file. After that I said to myself you better just finish the job. I'm happy with it and now its all my own.

Well the part to worry about is where the center pin hump is on the spring. That is what will hit the blade first.
