GEC #77 Medium Barlow Impressions

I think we might all have to accept the fact that these came out so nice that Mike has decided to keep them all for his collection. I don't blame him but I wish he would stop rubbing it in with these pictures...

A questions: why does the sawcut bone always get spun heads on the pins while the rest get heads that are ground flush? I like the nice touch and subtle differences between the covers but is there a functional reason?

I'm not an expert on the subject, but it seems to me that with the sawcut, if you grind the pins you loose some of the sawcut pattern and it becomes smooth bone. Just a guess.

Bingo. With textured slabs, to buff the pins down you buff away all the texture.

The coping blade looks great, a nice useful size. I hate it when they make a knife the size of the 77 with a tiny petite blade. Can't wait.

I'm getting super anxious for my email for my reserves! Mike I love the single blades! They look great. I wasn't into the smooth ivory bone until I found out these were all steel. I guess I overlooked it. I hope there's still some available, I can picture the patina and it's a masterpiece!

Same here. I reserved a red sawdust single blade because I didn't have any red knives. After seeing the smooth ivory bone I wish I would have reserved one of those as well. I cant wait to get mine regardless they all look great.
